Casper Langelund Jensen
3D artist & Motion designer @ VML STUDIOS l Weekly 3D and motion design inspiration
This week the theme is Skincare. Let’s stir up some good simulations. Let’s take a look!
1. SkinCeuticals - Year of the Dragon Director's Cut
Client: SkinCeuticals — Agency: CA1 CA2 — Studio: Onesal
Collaborators
Creative Insight
Onesal partnered with SkinCeuticals to design a campaign that connects the world of chinese culture with skincare in a visual narrative with sensory experiences that represents the dragons symbolic renewal and transformation. The approach with highly-realistic textures, pulsating animations adds a bold layer of abstract visual storytelling on how SkinCeuticals roots are deep within the chinese culture.

Creative Insight
For the launch of Zhiben’s Dermal Purefiner Night Cream, Frame and Final Frontier collaborated to create a film that evokes a sense of serenity and purity. The theme of holiness is represented without religious connotations. The visual narrative plays with the symbolism of renewal with the light outshining the darkness. Crafting an experience that feels both luxurious and sublime.

4. Lanc?me Paris ROSE 80
Client: Lanc?me — Agency: DOWNTOWN PARIS — Studio: DIGR
Creative Insight
Vladislav Solovjov masterfully crafted a series of films for Lanc?me’s Rose 80, under the production of DIGR in collaboration with Downtown Paris. The production is packed with elegant golden fluid simulations dressed in white and beige scenes with white petals giving a refined touch. The shots are lit in gorgeous studio lighting, giving the shots elegance. The fluid sims are paired with live/action shots portraying how the Rose 80 blends perfectly with the skin.

Conclusion
Skincare commercials often rely on fluid simulations to illustrate product efficacy, but luxury brands are increasingly shifting toward evoking emotions and sophistication. Instead of merely showcasing application techniques, they’re now focused on creating immersive experiences that resonate with viewers on a deeper level. This evolution prioritizes elegance and subtle storytelling, emphasizing how skincare can feel as luxurious as it looks.
Discussion
Are you more into the fluid simulations explaining the construction of the product, or the abstract approach to the visual storytelling?
P.S. Have a creative weekend ahead! Keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in motion design.
