Motherworld: Time for a Revolution (of Love)

Listening to the pensive, stirring and sonorous “American Dreams” album by Charlie Haden and Michael Brecker, I am slightly soothed into believing that America will remain a democracy. And perhaps we will birth a new story of restoration, of regeneration, to replenish the Earth. Protect the children. Honor the mothers. If. If we tell the truth about what we are seeing and hearing. If we name the deceptions and delusions, the deep, deep injustices now revealed to a cartoonish degree. Above all, if we answer the call for a revolution which comes from the heart.

In the USA, we are at a particularly precarious threshold. Either we collapse into increasing corruption, autocracy and chaos, or we remember and realize more fully our original promise to become a spiritual democracy. We were never a Christian nation. We were founded by mystics and revolutionaries. Became a nation of immigrants. Several of our Founding Fathers were astrologers. They intentionally aligned the birth of our nation with the ancient magical powers of stars like Sirius, connected to the Goddess Isis, and the? Great Mother (Cancer). At the heart of the American vision was the model of democracy we copied from the Iroquois Confederacy (Haudenosaunee) people. However, the founders left out these three critical elements from the original Iroquois model:

1)?? The presence, power and leadership of the Grandmothers and Mothers

2)?? The indigenous wisdom of a sacred reciprocity with Earth and all beings.

3)?? The Great Law of Peace.

The USA is at the epicenter of a great global initiation. It is imperative to do all we can to participate in remembering our own indovidual sacred stories, and the sacred origin story of this nation. The Dunne-za (Athabaskan First Nations people) assume that events take place only after people have known and experienced them in dreams, visions, and myth. It is time to bring a new story to life. One that honors our interconnectedness in a great cosmic web of life.

In the stories and myths of Grandmother Spider Woman, we can connect to not only Native American indigenous wisdom but find a path to our own forgotten feminine power and creativity, moving beyond deadening patriarchy within and without. Grandmother Spider Woman is a Creator Goddess who thinks reality into being and imagines new worlds with her dreaming. We, too, possess such qualities and capacities. We are being summoned now to use these creative powers for good.

Grandmother Spider is a bridge between the mundane and spiritual worlds. She is not only peaceful but compassionate, endlessly creative, and joyful (Navajo/Dine). Many stories throughout the world warn of the harm and destruction which occur when humanity forgets sacred and natural law. We are deep amid the unraveling of the flawed and false story. But fully capable of dreaming and living a new story.
