The mothers of invention

The mothers of invention

While there’s no shortage of rugged characters operating along the coast of Alaska, it’s hard not to be impressed by the story of Brianna Murphy and Kristen Smith – two women who’ve not only made a home for themselves in the male-dominated world of commercial fisheries, but have also embraced the fledgling seaweed sector . Trading jobs in publishing and nuclear physics for lives on the water, Murphy and Smith have set up a unique business - Mothers of Millions - and I hope their story helps to inspire others who are tired of urban, desk-bound careers. — Rob Fletcher, Senior Editor
