As the interest of mine; so as the reflections on my baby's interest

As my attitude and environment, so as my son Reethish's taste and interest.

Since a month ,my 5.5 yrs son is carrying my engineering text books. Where ever he is, he is placing these books beside him including his school bag. His teacher observed him keenly for the way he speaks about science in real life activities and applications. She is so curious to know how a little kid, has that kind of interest and enthusiasm on science, especially engineering.. For that she asked me, "Ma'am.. may I know how Reethish could get this enthusiasm to learn science and when did he actually started learning science?"

For her question I really felt so amazed for getting an opportunity to share the scientific reasons and the practical process which has involved in shaping his attitude in this way..

My reply to her is..

Ma'am.. The process is certainly not simple and also didn't happened overnight. The actual process in shaping his attitude started from the first day of pregnancy and on from that day itself his learning also started...

Just then took a pause with organizational career but not with my learning and teaching. When I am in the third month of pregnancy, my brother is in Engineering 2nd yr, 1st semester. On one side I used to prepare for GATE and other competitive exams in Engineering stream, on the other side I used to teach Electronics, Communications, Electrical subjects to my brother, his friends and to my students. Whether I am in learning or teaching I used to ask my baby, "Are you listening? Are you understanding?" For that he used to give response through kicks(I could feel his kicks from 15th week of pregnancy). This process continued on the day of his birth too..

Then, from his 3rd day of birth, I opted a special course on GATE and completed with the preparation of 1500 lectures with in 120 days by placing my laptop near to him (with permissible distance). After that 120 days occupied with preparation for many competitive exams till his 2yrs 9 months. Then started with my career as a lecturer in a polytechnic college. Apart from college, in home I used to teach my students on both online and offline until his 3.5 yrs. Afer his 3.5 years of age, I started with UPSC preparation. He is good with these subjects too. But as the post is confined to science, getting back to the flow now.

For the my intensive passion and learning on my Engineering subjects, the results with respect to Reethish learnings are the following :

(1)He started speaking from his 60th day. His first word is "Amma". Regarding science is first word is "3-phase circuit " and word came out of his mouth in his 9th month.

(2) Regarding playing his first set of toys are purely electronic ones, this happened in his sixth month. He started playing with batteries, chargers, electronics and electrical gadgets from his 7th month of age.

(3) I used to play infobells rhymes in you tube to him from his third day. He started using mobile, from his 9th month. He used to play videos on science from then itself that too only in English. For which he is an expert at speaking English besides being a good science enthusiast.

(4) He started taking my books from his 3 years of age. He doesn't know atleast English alphabets but his learning is being done through pictures. When he finds some picture as interesting he used to curiously ask me the details of pictures and the science behind them.

(4) From his 4.5 years, he started drawing pictures like simple electronic circuits, transformer robots, antenna and so on..

(5)By his 5.5 years he is carrying Engineering books with him all the time Inspite of not knowing how to read but still he is so fascinated to draw the pictures present in the books and aslo ask me the concepts hidden in the pictures which he feels curious to know.

As a mother of Reethish, I feel so joyful to share his experiences on learning and also feel glad to observe on how the attitude of pregnant women impacts the baby mind set; how pivotal the role it plays in shaping the attitude of the baby right from the day of birth.

These things are shared to her with 45 minutes of discussion and at the end I sincerely thanked for giving me such a good opportunity to share our(mommy and baby) experiences to her...
