There have only been two types of video inventory that you could choose to purchase: in-stream and out-stream. IAB's new classifications will provide two new choices: accompanying and interstitial. For years, media buyers haven't had much insight into exactly how or where their ads are showing. This change will help media buyers, but it may cause certain inventory for publishers to be devalued, resulting in a loss of revenue. Big week for IAB, they just released their 2022 Video Ad Spend report. Two key things that were interesting were that CTV is the fastest growing spend category, with 36% of respondents responding that they have reallocated spend from digital/mobile video to spending in CTV. Also, half of video buyers are using biometric-based metrics to measure viewer attention.
