Mother AI: Which AI Language model is the right one for me?
Stephanie LeBlanc-Godfrey (she/her)
Founder Mother AI I Global Head of Inclusion for WOC Google | Thinkers50 Radar '24 | Champion for AI Literacy Among Working Parents
Ever since the emergence of ChatGPT, the way we think of AI has experienced a significant transformation. It then quickly expanded to other models like Bard, Bing, Lyro, Jasper, and many more.
However, for someone like me who suffers from analysis paralysis, the prospect of multiple options can sometimes be less exhilarating than you’d expect. Nevertheless, the mission of Mother AI motivates me to delve deeper into these options, especially for parents and caregivers who value their precious time and prefer not to toggle between various chatbots to seek answers.
Here’s my simplified take for the top two chatbot platforms:
ChatGPT (chat.openai.com):
Google’s Bard (bard.google.com):
Both ChatGPT and Bard have worked well for me in answering questions and editing responses based on the desired tone and perspective. For example, I can ask ChatGPT to explain something to me as if I were in elementary school.
The reality is that ChatGPT and Bard are continuously evolving. Updates are driven by increased usage and advancements in language model technology, so what is true today may change tomorrow. For now, I don't see a clear rubric for deciding which one to use. Ultimately, the choice comes down to personal preference.
For the foreseeable future, I will continue to toggle between the two to compare responses for style, level of detail, and accuracy. I will then amalgamate the best parts of each response to get what I'm looking for. Need more tips? Let me know and I'll do the research and get back to you!

1 年I'm a ChapGPT fan (call her Chattie lol). We've brainstormed some great stuff together. I don't seem to get as far with Bard, although it's great generating lists, names, etc. I think I need to develop better Bard prompts.

1 年Thank you for this simple/concise summary of the two … I also find myself toggling between the two for my own use… though had not used either in supporting my kids with hw assignments (yet!!??)
I use both of these too, Stephanie. I've added Claude and Bearly for writing projects and find them (so far) to be the most useful and produce the best output. That may change quickly, but for now these two tools are proving valuable.

1 年How about? The mobile app integration of Bing search and their AI bot is pretty cool. Only downside I have experienced is the advertising links…
