The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Top of the weekend my friends! This is one of those rare “time” weekends! Where the lunisolar or Hebrew calendar and the Gregorian Calendar (the solar dating system used by most of the world) match up.?

So this weekend Jews, Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics will join hands and celebrate the Passover Lamb! ??

This Resurrection weekend and Passover seder will both celebrate victory over the life’s death angel. Proclaiming that both will be “free at last! Free at Last! Thank GOD Almighty!! I feel the words of a old Negro spiritual coming on!!

Anyway, ever wonder how we got the term “Easter”? Well, we adopted the term “Easter” from the Christian Paschal festival taken from the old english word “eastre”. Which came from our Dutch and German immigrants.?

It was the vernal equinox festival in honor of the German goddess of the dawn. It is also where we get the tradition of the Easter bunny rabbit. However it is neither tied to the torah or the bible. But it sure is fun watching the kids enjoy this sugary treasure hunt and a great childhood memory for most of us too.?

Another interesting fact tied to this weekend is “How long it took for the Red Sea to part?? Answer - anywhere from 3 days to a week! How do I know that? I’m glad you just had that thought! (and if not keep reading)

It’s in the book of Exodus (which in Greek means "the way out”). Inside chapter 14 verses 21 and 22 the text says it took all night. For their tribes to “crossover on dry land” (a very important point). ?

Let’s review, it took “all night” for the Red Sea seabed to be completely dry. However it doesn’t tell you “how long” the Red Sea remained split or parted? Come closer this is when it gets good!

No one knows! This is the part of the story where the rocks cry out:?

The Exodus had somewhere around 2 or 3 million Hebrews and their alien brotherhood with their newly acquired stuff making a break for it! The Red Sea's maximum width is?190 miles, it's greatest depth is 9,974 feet.?Remember the scripture reports they crossed this separated body of water on dry ground.?

According to logistic experts would take a minimum of 2 or 3 days to a week. Yet most predictions guess probably a lot longer! Whoa!!!

Add to that Egyptians who watched their free labor force escape for that extended period of time. Plus being flustered by the pillar of fire and cloud (really dense fog). They were quick to pursue once given a chance even in the last watch of the night which is around 3am to 6am in the morning.?

No wonder Pharaoh army got drowned in the Rea Sea! They couldn't make up the distance or detect that this dry ground miracle would become so muddy so quick. And as they say "the wheels came off".?

According to recent archaeological research, Ramses II who is believed to be the oppressive pharaoh with the hard heart.?Failed to realize his hierarchy once again just got put in the ultimate plagued “Time Out”. Actually according to recent Egyptian hieroglyphic findings in 2016, record a major defeat during that period of time. Regarding a small band of escaped slaves who made it to a distant land.?

Finally, we close with the most wonderful “time” in the future. The Jewish calendar this year is 5782 and Jubilee is (5789), that's just 3 years away in 2025.?Does that mean something? Maybe? Our measurement of time doesn’t include Jubilee or does it? Time is based on the life of Christ, you know. Which is why we have B.C. and A.D.?

Most know that BC means before Christ. However A.D. is actually Latin for Anno Domini. Which translated means “In the year of the return of Our Lord”. Donut ever forget! ??
