The most watched sport during the Olympic Games is and always has been track and field, guess what? Big change coming

Repechage to be included during the track distances from 200m to the 1500m events.
It appears that World Athletics has smartly borrowed from the sport of rowing, the idea of the repechage. During the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, for the first time, there will be rounds to sort out who did not automatically qualify to advance now instead of the old, "next fastest athletes."
This is exciting because it gives some control and some second chance to athletes who may have had an off-race and could have run better or were saddled with a round of death (strongest athletes in one round). Instead of athletes and fans waiting throughout the rounds to see if a fourth or fifth or sixth-place athlete gets to move on based on time, they will face off in a race. Sure, it is more arduous for the athlete, but it gives them a second chance and for spectators and viewers, more drama.
Here is basically how it works: https://athleticsillustrated.com/how-the-repechage-rounds-will-work-in-the-2024-paris-olympic-games/
