“The most wasteful person on the planet”
Here’s an example of why my mom sometimes calls me the most wasteful person on the planet–
I had a craving for french fries. Fries from McDonald's, to be precise.
I had them delivered, and when they arrived they were stale and not as hot as I like them to be.
So I waited until the next day to dine in at an actual McDonald’s restaurant.
Like a little girl on Christmas morning, I was giddy… excited to savor my fresh hot french fries!!?
After my first bite, I thought…
“It can’t be - how can this be stale???”
So I took another bite.
And I realized they’d served me fries that weren’t fresh off the fryer.
Keeping in mind that I was at a fast food store and not at a fine-dining restaurant,
I approached the cashier and politely told her the fries she’d served me weren’t crispy enough for my liking. I asked if she could please cook me new ones? I’d be more than happy to pay again.
She told me I may need to wait a few minutes, but she’d have me served as soon as they came out of the fryer.
If you’re like my mom, your knee-jerk reaction is probably -

“What a waste!”
A waste of the first order of fries.
A waste of money toward a second order of fries.
But do you know why I’m more than happy to pay for new ones?
Because when you eat things you’re not really happy about, your body gets used to tolerating things you don’t really like.
Unconsciously, you’re normalizing BS, toxicity, unhealthy situations, being gaslit, ostracized… you name it!!
Getting a new order of fries may seem so trivial at first, but it’s in these small habits that our reality and narrative are formed.
So, my friend, send your order back or get a new one when you’re not happy with it.
Then sit back and reflect on the emotions that come up for you.?
I promise you, you’ll start to have firmer boundaries and be more discerning of things.
Oh, and if you’re wondering– I’m the same way in any restaurant.
I once had the ma?tre d return my order at a Michelin-star restaurant!
And when the chef insisted his way was the “authentic” Cantonese way, I didn’t argue… but I didn’t eat it, either.
Anyway, I was so happy after my hot crispy french fries, and I want you to be able to give yourself that same kind of happy.?
Because “happy” is NEVER a waste, my friend.
