While there are many advocates enticing the youth to learn trending and technical skills, one of the skills which is gradually deteriorating in today's society is "Empathy".
As AI continues to upgrade itself and replace humans in many technical skills, the fundamental and distinguishing qualities of a person-kindness, empathy, and ability to form an emotional connect continue to become much more relevant both in personal and professional life.
As CAs or other professionals, we often get associated with an image of being strict, conscientious, and fail to exhibit empathy. A slight change in our attitudes and daily habits where we are able to understand other person's emotions and feel for them can go a long way in making us better human beings and even professionals.
Some of the things we can do to be more empathetic is become active listeners, speak less and using much more sweeter words, being open to other person's opinions and views, exhibit control over our own feelings in conversations, and most important make our body language more welcoming and appreciative.
Even if empathy is not strictly viewed as a skill, the belief in Karma itself is sufficient to gauge its importance. " Expect yourself to be treated the same way you treat others." While many of us may not currently have the potential to influence the world in meaningful ways, just wearing a smile on our faces and having a clean heart can impart much more positive influence in the world.?
Let's therefore aim to prioritize taking the time to truly empathize with others over efficiency and productivity in our fast-paced and busy lives.
