The Most Uncomfortable Thing Leaders Must Do To Succeed

I was sitting at my computer today to write, and I had an idea that I wanted to speak about.

However, as I thought about it, I knew I hadn't researched the topic well enough to do it justice.

At the same time, I knew that I needed to write SOMETHING because I have set the intention to write every day this year.

I need to write something, yet I wasn't sure what to write...

Then it hit me crystal clear!

What Makes Leaders Uncomfortable

The feeling that I was right in the middle of - Struggle!

It is something that most people COMPLETELY fear.

Especially here in the States, we tend to have lives of complete comfort.

We don't need to leave our houses or do any form of cooking to get our food, it can simply be delivered to us.

Working for most requires simply sitting at a desk.

For entertainment, we only need to pull out our mobile devices from our pockets.

To go long distances, we just sit in a vehicle.

There is really no struggle, which in many ways is a blessing.

However, it is also a bit of a curse.

How This Prevents Peak Performance

To understand how this is a curse, we have to understand Flow States.

Flow States come in a 4 Part cycle.

Do you know what the VERY first part is?

Struggle!

When we feel "uncomfortable" we often run in the other direction!

However, by running from the Struggle, we prevent ourselves from EVER being in Flow States!

In order to get to the best version of ourselves, we must lean into the Struggle, and find the second part of the cycle - Release.

When we release, THAT is when we find Flow!

Without the release though, if we only flee, we will ALWAYS be underperforming.

To Lean into the Struggle requires Courage.
