“You can be the most talented person in the world, but if you’re not reliable, you’re going nowhere fast.”
―?Frank Sonnenberg,?The Path to a Meaningful Life
The question is -who would you most trust to run your personal or business affairs??The answer is likely, someone with integrity who is honest, responsible, accountable, RELIABLE, and trustworthy.
Of course, not everyone we consider to be RELIABLE will be candidates for running our own affairs. But we may be looking for this quality in the people we seek to hire, work with, and –in other ways- put our trust in. Perhaps a mentor, vendor, doctor, or some other personal connection.?Reliability or lack of it can be a deal maker or potential deal breaker.?It is THAT admirable a soft skill!
Those we consider to be reliable are the most likely to show up on time, take charge in tough situations, and respect deadlines. We shouldn’t have to micromanage reliable people and we should always feel confident that they are looking out for everyone’s best interests.?They were raised and or developed right and take great pride in their integrity. They recognize that unreliable people rarely get anywhere in life because they are considered untrustworthy.
What are the most common traits of RELIABLE people?
They always arrive on time and meet all deadlines! ?They respect the other people’s time and make the best use of their own time to satisfy all necessary requirements.
They are ON THE TEAM!?They cooperate and collaborate effectively with their teammates and can be relied on to do what is expected of them. And they tend to be very supportive of their colleagues and the entire team effort.
They are great planners. ?One of the secrets of reliable people is that they are very good planners. They never overestimate or underestimate a situation and have a realistic approach. Being able to prioritize in arranging the sequence of your tasks makes a difference. They look at things in perspective and the long run.
They have a high EQ (Emotional Intelligence): ?They read people well and can easily determine when it is wise and appropriate to step in and offer a hand.?They also know what appropriateness means and are very careful not to offend with their words and actions.
They are superior communicators. ?These people can be trusted to carry and deliver even the most complex and sensitive messages to others without stirring up anger or controversy. They take the time to understand the messaging and its intent with laser focus on delivering information with preciseness and roper nuance.?They also think well on their feet and can respond appropriately to the unforeseen and unexpected reactions of others.

They easily accept responsibility and take it seriously. ?They understand goal purpose and are dedicated to successful outcomes. ?For most – failure is just not an option.
They are “Take Charge” people.?They tend to be natural leaders and others gravitate to their leadership. They do not fear challenge or risk.

They are well organized. They prioritize very well and plan so well that their estimates for time of completion is usually “on the money.”
If many of these characteristics resonate with you, chances are that others consider you trustworthy and reliable.?Those who really believe this to be true will be the first to step up to the plate to recommend and endorse you to others.?RELIABILITY is a good trait to define us, putting others at ease about our good characters in a world in which those considered to be of good character are at a premium.
