Recovering from the global tech outage could be a long, arduous process

A huge IT outage has unleashed chaos across the world, with grounding planes, halting trains and leaving GP surgeries unable to take bookings - but what caused this massive failure?
"This issue stems from a recent update by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike, which has caused widespread disruptions for airlines, banks, media outlets, technology companies, telecom firms, and businesses and other organizations around the world.?This outage has impacted Microsoft Windows systems and connected services.
The CrowdStrike issue has caused millions of Windows 10 and Windows 11 desktop PCs and laptops to be stuck on an error message, known as the Blue Screen of Death (BSDO). There is a workaround to stop the BSOD error , which has left NHS GP surgeries unable to take appointments.
The mass?Microsoft outage?has hit vital?NHS?services, according to reports that medical computer system EMIS is not working.
Patients have been urged not to contact their GP unless they have an urgent need as a global IT outage caused widespread chaos.
It is not just the UK that has been affected, but the United States, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, France, and Germany.
London Stock Exchange services impacted?
The LSE Group, which runs the London stock market, stated that it is suffering a worldwide technical issue that prevents news from being published.

In a service notification the LSE announced that the RNS news service wasn ow experiencing a third-party worldwide technical fault that prevents news from being published on www.londonstockexchange.com .
Technical staff are attempting to restore service. Other services within the Group, notably the London Stock Exchange, continue to operate normally.
Latest Update: CrowdStrike’s issue has been identified, isolated, and a fix has been deployed.

I go back to old school thinking like back up power supplies … surely organisations should do an impact assessment and identify vulnerabilities in their services to others, or their own use of products, and have standby processing on hand when the impact of non availability is so great ?
