??Rewe's vegan supermarket, 6 months after launch
“Launching a purely plant-based store in today’s market was bold, but we were confident in our vegan product expertise and experience from managing over 3,800 stores across Germany. So far, initial figures and customer feedback indicate that a full-range, plant-based supermarket is viable in the right location.
“Whether we expand the concept with more stores remains to be seen,” says Peter Maly. “Meanwhile, our REWE locations nationwide benefit from products first tested at REWE voll pflanzlich before being added to the broader REWE product range.”
??Oddlygood acquires Rude Health
The acquisition, for an undisclosed amount, supports Oddlygood’s mission to become a leading player in the plant-based sector across the UK and Europe, and follows the company’s purchase of Nordic plant-based brand Planti in 2023, which expanded its footprint in Sweden’s spoonable snacks and Finland’s cooking product sectors.
??Plant-based Treaty in Hollywood
The City Council for West Hollywood, California, has unanimously voted to endorse the Plant Based Treaty. The council will now urge the US government, along with other national governments, to negotiate a Global Plant Based Treaty. In a resolution initiated by Vice Mayor Chelsea Byers, the council acknowledged the threat posed by the global climate crisis and the need for “bold and immediate action”.
