The most powerful Woman in Indonesia
Proud to share that I was standing with the most powerful woman in #Indonesia - the Minister of Finance, Ms. Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
First I heard from my professor Eduardo Araral in Singapore that if there was one thing he could comment on Indonesia, it would be their #Ministry_of_Finance. Many times our professor gave his positive feedback on how Indonesia have been making financial and economic reforms. Then, I personally met with the Minister of Finance during our LKYSPP event "Festival of Ideas" in December 2019. Ms. Sri Mulyani Indrawati gave her speech at our school. Her working experience in the World Bank Group, IMF in Southeast Asia, and now she has been leading the Ministry of Finance to fight against corruption, as well as to transform the Indonesian economy from the most crisis moments to stabilizing their inflation and attracting FDI is unbelievable. Moreover, I am truly impressed by her leadership as a #WOMAN!
She is not only presenting her prominent leadership in Indonesia, but also demonstrating her professional capacity and influence in the world. In 2018, she received "Best Minister Award" at the World Government Summit. What a recognition!!
Meanwhile, I would like to share is that, a young entrepreneur (founder of taxi-service app #GoJek) has been invited to serve Indonesian government in the role of the #Minister_of_Education. Isn't that incredible?
Looking through the economic transformation of Indonesia, I realize that the success of a national economy (development) mostly depends on their policy makers. If the government can delegate the work to real professionals, they can always make CHANGES! Government should also open the invitation to talents from the private sector (as the example of the Minister of Education in Indonesia).
The most important criteria must be based on Merits. #Meritocracy is the golden principle for Singapore governing. Yesterday, Singapore Prime Minister made the public speech,
"To succeed, Singapore needs high-quality public servants to work with first-class political leaders"
No matter it is in Singapore or Indonesia, their governments are hungry for real professionals. Thinking about our government in Kyrgyzstan...
