MOST PEOPLE become CREATIVE Because they HAVE NO CHOICE to SURVIVE
Since I became involved in 1976 I have discovered that out of the usual professions and occupations generally considered as CREATIVE most people do not resort to CREATIVE THINKING except when THEY HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE, to SURVIVE.
People generally move through life comfortably doing WHAT WORKS EASILY rather than CHANGING
CREATIVITY means CHANGE
CREATIVITY can mean CHAOS
Most people want COMFORT and some degree of CONFORMITY.
Manufacturers, Retailers, Service Providers, etc will put money into CREATIVITY to SURVIVE if and when they COMPETITION CREATES and STEALS there business.
i.e.:
US POST OFFICE began to become creative because of
FED EX not UPS
IBM tried to be more CREATIVE because of APPLE
Fossberry and his Flopp became creative because the believe was PERFECTION had been REACHED.
CHRYSLER became more CREATIVE under Iaccoca because they had to SURVIVE against GM, FORD, the Japanese and German companies.
During the past 15 years many companies have focused on INNOVATION
but still not on being CREATIVE. Being Innovative is seen as SAFER and more PREDICTABLE.
What examples can you think of?
