??The most important thing I learnt in my second workshop??

Last Thursday, I had the privilege of conducting my second workshop at Swire Properties. This time, the audience are colleagues from the Technical Services and Sustainable Development (TSSD) department. Their enthusiasm and eagerness to delve deeper into Power BI and our new data platform fueled my determination to organize more workshops in the future.

The difference between this workshop and the previous one was huge. Not only did we have a larger group of participants (a total of 22), but their roles and expertise spanned a wide spectrum. Balancing the needs of technical experts and business-minded managers posed an interesting challenge. While the latter group prioritizes the strategic impact of tools like Power BI, the former thrives on mastering the technical intricacies applicable to their daily work.

I made a difficult choice when preparing for my workshop. This time, I shifted the focus towards the value proposition and incentives of adopting a new analytics approach. Rather than overwhelming anyone with technical details, I emphasized how this transition and understanding the fundamental concepts could reduce colleagues’ manual work and empower our teams. It is my honor to know that my efforts resonated with many participants as I can tell from the survey responses.

Not every survey response is positive. Some participants expressed their confusion—they could not follow my demonstrations, and the background of data remained elusive to them. In hindsight, I failed to recognize that not everyone shared the same context. The mistakes I made last time never happened again but new mistakes emerged!

Yet, I realized I already gave it my all. I poured 200% effort into crafting workshop materials and conveying my message. Imperfections make me stronger. It is humbling to realize that some attendees struggled to grasp my words; this highlights an area for improvement in future workshops. Constructive feedback from these individuals is invaluable.

I extend my sincere gratitude to everyone who supported the workshop. Your encouragement fuels my growth, and without you, there would not be a better Matthew. :)

Our participants love this poll so much. Thanks to
