"The most important thing I discovered a couple of months after turning 40 is that I can't waste any more time doing things I don't want to do."

A symbolic quote from a symbolic film taking place in my hometown, Rome: a city that is as amazing as it can be dysfunctional. I initially left my amazing city to grow, create better opportunities and have a positive impact on how things are managed.

--

But, then, I observed some similar patterns within the companies that make interactions difficult, everything becomes more tiring, and both the results and the quality are affected.

I suffered looking at things done inefficiently in companies around me - regardless of the country, company size, if they were a client, a supplier, or else; nobody was really listening to the teams, who kept on asking me "WHY do they make us work in this way?"

I had no answers.

What is worse, is that I had no justifications. Not for the people and colleagues around me, who were very supportive: I didn't have them for myself, mainly.

I couldn't possibly justify that with all my education and certificates and experience and knowledge of best practices, I wasn't able to succeed at changing the system.

I had the impression I was wasting my time.

To be honest, it felt like Don Quixote fighting against the windmills.

--

I started speaking and publishing about these things to raise awareness and - ideally - participate in creating a movement for improving the "Future of Work".

Little by little, I realised that there is an urgent need to change the "Present of Work"?instead, with practical hints that help people work better.

In the end, things degraded so much that I didn't have any energy in me to keep on perpetuating the same pattern.

?--

I had the choice to go look for yet another company (probably in yet another country, as if this changed anything in terms of work modalities)... or run the huge risk of taking the leap, and create a business around this Vision.

I founded @innovAchievers for "Innovative Achievers who can multiply the solutions in their companies and with their people… Leaders who will innovate in the present in order to achieve in the future."

?--

Not an easy transition for someone who had always been an employee, with a very good paycheck coming in every month, and solid in my expertise and "re-sellable" skills.

Now it's different. I needed to stand up for myself, look for opportunities, understand how to bring real value to companies (and to people).

The very value that was missing in most of the companies structures that I observed, and that is so much needed to achieve not only better results, but also better satisfaction.

?--

But there is a problem.
It's not that easy.

Companies work in a certain way, and they are too busy to take some time to "sharpen the saw".

So, while people keep on asking for a better way to work (which would lead to better results), companies are stuck dealing with the problems at hand and don't see how they can make a change.

?--

Wait. Aren't companies made of people and by people?

?--

So what does it take for this renovation to happen?

It needs people like you, who read this article, to understand the great benefits of this approach, and start speaking about that, talking publicly, asking your colleagues and your teams to work in this direction.

Because this is what will save both your professional life (and the company results) and your private life.

This is evolution.

?--

After all, what we do at innovAchievers is to leverage the small tweaks that radically change your results, without the need for a big change or a significant transformation.

Are you willing to evolve to the next level?

PS: I'm rephrasing a quote from the "Oscar" Academy Award winner film "The Great Beauty" because it's so symbolic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZ9DUmsKZCY

Great story and analogy of your "why" you do what you do Giulio Zecca, PMP? We can't expect different results when we do the same thing over and over
