They should teach us these things in school, right? Teach us about life and what's important in it...and they should also use the opportunity to teach us how to learn a skill. In Lennon's words, "imagine"...
- Life is our time on earth. (We call it time but in fact, it's the energy we continuously borrow from other forms of life). The most important thing to master therefore is how you use your time/energy. And how to continuously, intentionally, revisit your routines and time/energy expenditure patterns, to make sure they remain relevant for the next opportunities coming your way.
- No man is an island. The ability to create and manage relationships is essential for a fulfilled living experience. People don't owe you anything - so you'd better get used to the idea that skillful relationship management is something you need to continuously learn to do, as people and ages change, and so do your social needs.
- Survival of the fittest... this means learn/change-ability. By the time you've learned "how to" this and that, the context, tools, and shapes of expected outcomes have evolved. If you start again, it's already too late... most superb learners say yes to all challenges and their secret is continuous learning.
My two cents: unless we are pretty good at managing our time/energy, relationships and continuously learning in order to lean into changes without even noticing them, we are misplacing our energy.
