• Zurich Insurance Group ( 苏黎世保险 ), a leading multi-line insurer providing property, casualty, and life insurance solutions globally?moves their technology infrastructure?to Amazon Web Services (AWS) . Besides AWS global infrastructure, Zurich will leverage advanced analytics and machine learning technologies to deliver new customer experiences and drive automation at scale, in support of its worldwide digital strategy. Zurich will move 1,000 applications to AWS by 2025, including core insurance platform and SAP workloads.
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched?its second AWS infrastructure Region in Australia?- the AWS Asia Pacific (Melbourne) Region. Starting today, developers, startups, entrepreneurs, and enterprises, as well as government, education, and nonprofit organisations, will have greater choice for running their applications and serving end users from AWS cloud locations in Australia. AWS is planning to invest an estimated $4.5 billion (approx. A$6.8 billion) in Australia by 2037 through this new Region. You can learn more about the AWS Global Infrastructure?here
• After a three-year on the shelf,?NRF 2023: Retail’s Big Show was back in full force this January?featuring the best of retail and retail tech. 35,000 attendees. 175 sessions. 1,000+ exhibitors. Three key takeaways are: 1) Experience and engagement everywhere - through?composable architecture, goodbye monoliths! ??; 2) Cost reduction, cost reduction, cost reduction - from optimising supply chains to automating store operations - yes, more robots ??; and 3) Machine learning is going mainstream - predicting future sales influenced by micro-causal factors, such as a cooking episode ?? ??, weather forecast ?? or a cultural event ??
• Microsoft?has joined?the FinOps Foundation as a premier member and has joined the Governing Board defining the strategy and vision of the organization.?The FinOps Foundation?is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing people who practice the discipline of cloud financial management via best practices, education, and standards. Microsoft will contribute to defining specifications and best practices, aligning their Azure guidance with FinOps, improving products and services and advancing FinOps training and certification.
• Google Cloud 's?Bare Metal Solution (BMS) for SAP systems?plays an important role in Google's success with enterprise customers. 嘉德诺 's?will migrate its business away from legacy systems to a single, modern digital platform. This includes leveraging the Google Cloud Large Memory Bare Metal Solution to modernize and consolidate its SAP application architecture within its Pharma segment with a single, massively scalable SAP S/4HANA system and BigQuery to unify SAP data with a fully managed enterprise data warehouse - I have always been saying the insights from SAP data are best extracted using cloud technologies rather than implementing complex, expensive and monolithic native SAP data analytics tools.
• Google Cloud and Uber announced an expanded partnership in which Uber has selected Google to support the modernization of its data cloud infrastructure and reimagine the customer experience for Uber users, drivers, and merchants. Under the partnership, Uber will migrate some of the company's most critical infrastructure to Google Cloud and will be able to take advantage of additional Google capabilities, including Ads and Google Maps Platform, to modernize its architecture and accelerate application development, and Cloud Spanner for rapid scalability.
