The Most Exciting Announcement Of My Career
Josh Bersin
Global Industry Analyst, I study all aspects of HR, business leadership, corporate L&D, recruiting, and HR technology. ?
Today I'd like to discuss something personal with everybody.
After 26+ years of research and advisory consulting in HR, I'm introducing a powerful AI platform that gives you access to everything we've ever published (and much more), for only $39 per month.
Yes, we're launching Galileo Professional, your personal AI assistant for everything HR. Today, with the experience of 1000+ users in our corporate membership, I believe this product is essential to you as an HR professional, as a consultant, as a vendor, journalist, or an investor in this massive, exciting, wonderful community of human resources.
For 26 years, I have been leading organizations three times, first at Bersin & Associates, then at Bersin by Deloitte, and now the Josh Bersin Company , to research, understand, and explain and educate what's going on in the complex world of HR. And I've done this, as most of you know, in a methodical scientific way, with a focus on finding practical solutions.
For those of you that have followed us for years, you know that what we talk to hundreds and hundreds of companies and vendors about human resources and leadership challenges and solutions. We do surveys, we do interviews, and we analyze the data to show you statistically what's making a difference.
We introduced the Big Reset during the pandemic and showed you about why hybrid work was so important and it continues to be. It's not going away despite many CEOs' efforts.
We showed you, we defined for you wellbeing (The Healthy Organization ) in its early stages, how it started as an accommodation for digital overload and became a whole set of programs focused on mental health and resilience and psychological safety and of course DEI.
We wrote the book on DEI called Elevating Equity , explaining to HR and business leaders that DEI was not social justice, but it was a business strategy and continues to be despite the political activity around it.
We've written countless studies of the learning and development space, how it’s changed, and where it’s going. We've defined a new model for Talent Acquisition , reinventing it as the "Growth Function" within HR. And we've unlocked the secrets to pay equity, systemic rewards, organization design, and people analytics.
And we’ve done countless analyses and studies of HR technology vendors , how they’ve grown and shrunk and been acquired, and how the market for HR technologies changed year over year. This includes the role of AI, agents, analytics, and many other things, making HR technology now one of the most important and vexing issues in business.
We’ve also studied leadership, we've interviewed hundreds of companies about their leadership models and we've actually correlated various leadership practices to business results and developed what we call the dynamic organization model , which is a proven way of improving business performance through management.
I wrote several books, one on learning, one on analytics, and one on leadership called Irresistible ..? which has been very widely read and still extremely relevant today.
More than 75,000 people that have joined our Josh Bersin Academy . And we talk to a lot of them on a regular basis so we know what they're up to. And I know, through all these conversations, that HR is a huge, magnificent, important profession that challenges many, many people because it's so complex.
And throughout this process, I've tried extremely hard not to come across as a pundit or a futurist. Because even though I have plenty of opinions, I don't really think that's what you want.
You want to know what's going to work and why and how you can improve your professional career and the company that you work in. Because ultimately, human capital issues are the most important issues in business and in government and in politics for that matter.
So the better you understand the interrelationships between the people practices and the business itself, the better you can run your company.
And as I learned at Deloitte, this is all about you building organizational muscle. The consulting industry attempts to address these challenges by selling consulting. But the problem with consulting, as I experienced during my six and a half years there, is that consulting is an injection of external expertise and change management, but it doesn't change your company that much. This is all about you: your knowledge, your skills, and your perspective.
(We want consultants to use Galileo to make your work even better!)
Building a great company is about building muscle, capabilities, and experience in the business of managing people. It means trimming fat, staying focused, getting better at what you do, and managing and improving your culture so you don't end up with a situation like Boeing or other companies that have done bad things. From the inside out. And that's why Galileo empowers you!
And your management practices have to adapt and change. No company stands still. What Microsoft looked like today is not what Microsoft looked like when Balmer ran it, and it's not what Microsoft looked like when Gates ran it.
So...these are complex issues and the never seem to stand still.
Fast forward 25 years of stuff. We put it all into a spectacular, intelligent platform called Galileo . Galileo is not just an LLM. It's much, much, much more than that.
It's a file system that allows you to mix your corpus with our corpus. It's a highly predictive, highly refined query engine that will ask you questions and solve problems for you. It's got templates and various other tools to personalize itself. You can create multiple assistants that have different personalities.
You can tell it who you are and it will customize its generative capabilities for you. And it's going have the agentic capabilities soon.
And by the way, we're integrating Galileo with a lot of the corporate enterprise systems that you guys have. But we didn't feel ready to sell it to individuals because frankly, we weren't big enough yet. And we felt that it would be easier to manage its early release if we sold it through our corporate membership.
So up until today you were not able to get Galileo unless you were a corporate member. And the corporate membership pricing starts around $50,000 a year. As we embedding Galileo into our corporate membership we learned how it works, and now we now have thousands of people using it.
For $39 a month or $400 a year, which is roughly the cost of a cup of coffee a couple times a week, you get all of this information and a lot more. Not only everything I just mentioned and the platform and the ability to customize and upload your own content to it, it’s also really a super duper duper chat GPT plus with all this content in it.? And we've added massive amounts of external content that you would have had to pay for yourself.
This includes the global skills libraries and salary benchmarks from Lightcast, global employment practices from Oyster, turnover and span of control benchmarks from Visier, and leadership models from Heidrick & Struggles and others. And much more is coming.
So you can license some of the most valuable professional development and data and information you need to do your job for $39 a month .
We're really excited about this, but there's even more. Once we built it and we started using it, we realized people want help. So we've also built a Galileo Success Center. The GSC, as we call it, is a series of videos on how to use Galileo, how to solve various problems, how to create prompts, how to do generative AI solutions, how to build behavioral interviews, build learning programs, build implementation plans, evaluate vendors, create RFPs, and more.
We added a mobile learning class in the GSC about generative AI and HR with lots of examples. So this is a spectacular offering. And we are always here behind the scenes to help with it.
Every week we publish multiple new sources of content into Galileo, so it will always be up to date. And we will continue to do this for the rest of time. So this is, in a sense your lifetime professional platform to empower you to constantly be the best consultant, the best HR professional, the best leader you could ever be.
Please join us on this exciting journey. Listen to the story. And join us on the AI journey , it's just the beginning of many more exciting things to come!
(PS if you're in NYC on November 13 come meet me and Joel Hellermark the CEO of Sana and we'll tell you more about our partnership.)
Congrats. Looking forward to exploring it.
Congratulations Josh. I'm one of the early adopters already and I can see the value right away. Excited to see how this will link to JBA.
