Most dangerous time period for human beings
The Black Death, an outbreak of Bubonic Plague that ravaged Europe, Africa, and Asia occurred in 1346-1353 A.D. It originated in Central Asia and spread across continents through fleas living on rats aboard merchant ships. It is believed that due to climate changes in Central Asia, rodents began to flee the dried out grasslands to more populated areas, spreading the disease.
The Black Death was a devastating pandemic. By some estimates, nearly 200 million people ie. nearly every second person in Europe, Africa and Asia succumbed to the disease. The Black Death is estimated to have killed up to 60% of Europe's total population. The world lost more than a third of its population in the aftermath of the plague and it took two centuries for the world population to recover to its previous level. The plague created religious, social and economic upheavals, which had profound effects on the course of European history.
So, if you and I were living in Europe, Africa or Asia between 1346 and 1353, only one of us would have survived the scourge of the Black Death.

4 年Good information though sad. Perhaps this could be one of the reasons that population density in Europe is less than India inspite of better technology and economy at that time.
