ATTITUDE!

Great attitudes encourage great attitudes and negative attitudes encourage negative attitudes.

?

For you, being the leader you are, it is your duty to be aware and intentional about the attitude you are bringing to the workplace because yours is the most important on the team. What people see from you, they will justify for themselves. If you consistently exude positivity, urgency, and confidence, then it makes it really hard for people to justify negativity and laziness.

?

How can you ensure people adopt the attitude you are leading with?

?

First, establish clear core values for your team. That way, when someone gets off track, you can point them back to the values they committed themselves to rather than simply pointing out their failure.

?

Secondly, I would encourage you to be very intentional in how you lead these 3 people: Veteran employee, new employee, and negative employee.

?

The veteran employee is looked to for guidance and again, justification. Make sure your long-tenured employees are good ambassadors of your core values so the rest of the team is positively influenced.

?

The new employee shouldn’t have to wait until they fall off track to become aware of team values. You should use these core values to aid your hiring process and hire people who are in natural alignment with your expectations.

?

The negative employee - If you don’t want negativity spreading throughout your organization, the negative employee either needs to be coached up or coached out. I believe everyone deserves a second chance, but you can’t sacrifice the culture of your company for someone's consistently poor attitude.
