It's a fantastic product - but let's explore reasons why it might not be the perfect fit for your business

HP have many DesignJet models and somewhere there is one which is the "perfect fit" for your business. So...without further ado, let's dive in with the entry level HP DesignJet T120 - the lowest price DesignJet and A1 printer in HPs large range - and work out whether it is for you or not.

You shouldn't buy this printer if:

1. You need a PostScript printer - (full details coming later today on our Resolution GB Ltd page about what PostScript means ...so FOLLOW our NEW company page today!). One key point about PostScript printers is that they are labour saving devices, since they allow you to print multiple files at once rather than having to select each file individually but there are other advantages.

2. You ever want to attach an independent scanner - as most scanners require your printer to have more memory and a built in hard drive so this means the T120 is NOT suitable in this instance. Try looking at a DesignJet T830MFP or T2530MFP instead!

3. You do far more than 50 prints per month. This is because this printer is designed for low print volumes of up to 50 prints per month - and at this rate your printer will last approximately 5 years before parts start to wear and tear with use. If you do twice as many prints then the lifespan reduces to 2.5 years. It is false economy to choose a printer based only on initial purchase price as it will cost you more in the long run for repairs and replacement parts - and of course ink is more expensive too.

4. You want to print photos at a professional level. Don't get me wrong, if you print a photo on this machine it looks nice - but it won't have the same colour gamut as the graphic arts printers and the inks will fade as they aren't designed for mid-long term displayed artwork. You can't print on these machines and sell the prints as artwork because they aren't designed to do this and you risk your reputation.

5. You can afford to pay around £265 more, it's worth moving up to a HP DesignJet T520 which offers a faster output (35 secs per A1 page versus 70 secs per A1 page), better resolution (2400 x 1200 dpi versus 1200 x 1200 dpi) AND more memory (1GB versus 256MB). The T520 also has a plastic cover positioned over the paper roll to stop the printer from pulling in dust through the paper path AND the T520 comes with a stand (with the T120 the stand is an optional extra).

6. You need to print an A0 size print - the DesignJet T120 prints only up to A1 - and no...if you turned the print around it still wouldn't be A0!

7.  You'd like the ability to print directly from a USB stick.

But after all that, if you DO still want to buy the HP DesignJet T120 (and it has lots of PLUS POINTS) - then it's on a special promo deal this month (September 2017) at £550+VAT from Resolution GB Limited (www.hpplotter.co.uk).
