The most basic adventure in AI

By now most of us will have had the opportunity to experiment with the likes of ChatGPT , Bing AI Chat, Google Bard AI , etc.

Or should I more accurately say "play" with this latest tech?

I've always been something of a geek, possessing as I do a degree in Computing from Edinburgh Napier University whose doors I first entered in 1982 (gulp!).

But my interest in technology has not been in its creation but instead in its application. Hence my ongoing fascination as an early adopter with a deep desire to "play" with technology to understand what positive effect it could have on my life.

The latest AI applications to hit the market in the last 12 months have proved perfect in this respect as I now turn to ChatGPT at least once a week to offer inspiration as I prepare to write an article, but begin by facing the terror of the blank page.

When writing this very article I asked ChaptGPT to answer the question as posed by a ten-year-old "What is ChatGPT" which delivered the following illuminating response, which sums up the "tech" perfectly for me!

So with this in mind what can my "robot friend" do to assist me?

As something of a Linkedin addict, I was delighted to accept an invitation to participate in a simple AI-powered experiment on this platform called Collaborative Articles where AI is used to encourage Linkedin users to share insight and advice in response to particular subjects.

Now I'm sure this will strike you as a very simple application of technology and perhaps not the best example of AI transforming our society but to be honest that's not my interest. I remain as always an entrepreneur looking for how market changes, ie. the arrival of ChatGPT, can perhaps be used to help me source new opportunities.

So here's the win. By responding to these articles and by sharing my experience LinkedIn has named me as a Linkedin Top Voice which has directly led me to being selected to speak at a major international conference later this year.

Another opportunity to shine a light on and amplify the success of the Scottish Tech scene!

And this for me is the point. The question is not how will AI affect the world at a macro level but instead how best can I adopt this years tech into my mission to help deliver my personal vision.

Remember since 1982 I have seen a lot of tech come into existence including this very keyboard, monitor, CPU, internet, wifi, and social media platform we are interacting through today :)
