We gathered 10 most popular questions about setting up a dedicated software development team and recorded a?Q&A session with Iva Kozlovskaya, Managing Partner at Qubit Labs.
Looking to set up a remote dedicated team to scale your company? Feel free to?schedule a call?with us to discuss details!
Can Qubit Labs build and provide a?dedicated team? How does it work?
Yes, we help customers know more about dedicated team service and their needs. Yes, we provide a dedicated team service, but it works differently from other providers. How? Many different providers already have a team of developers working in their companies.
In our case, we complete teams from scratch individually to our?customers’ needs.
For example, we build a time based on the preferable time zone, the level of expertise of technology needed, and other crucial details. Before we start recruiting, we try to understand the long-term goals of our customers. We help businesses to choose locations for hiring among many tech hubs.
That’s why we do individual research for each client’s needs and preferences.

So how it works?
We start with job descriptions or requirements like technical stack, time zone, etc. We do individual research on each destination and show our client the number of tech specialists he needs in each country. So it will be easier for the company to scale a team with more developers.
For example, if our customer wants to engage a dedicated team in?Georgia, we understand that game development is only one of the strongest sides of this country. For?game development, it is better to hire specialists in Ukraine. And if you require?FinTech?specialists,?Poland?will be a better choice due to its great expertise in this industry. So when we start requirements, we know exactly what we are looking for and how to satisfy the client’s expectations about the future team.
What happens if the client doesn’t like the quality of the developer’s work? Is there any replacement?
We provide free replacements for our clients if they are not satisfied with the quality of work. In addition, we have a probation period for each new employee of the team, which is three months. The client can easily stop collaborating with a developer during this period in one day. All you have to do is let us know what issues you have. In this case, we immediately stop collaboration with this specialist and find you a new one.
Sometimes, problems can happen after the probation period or some employees decide to leave the company. In this case, we should be informed one month before specialists can go and start a new search. We dont charge extra for recruiting new specialists, which is all included in our service fee.
Next popular question is about budgets and costs. So, what is the average budget for a team? And how do you calculate it?
There is no certain answer to this question. Because everything is very individual and unique, we first look at market salaries to help customers predict their budgets. We have a limited number of locations where we hire teams. If customers want us to employ in any other country, we can provide only recruitment services without additional support after recruitment. In countries where we engage, we understand wages there.
So we provide all the information about the potential cost of a dedicated team for a client. Sometimes, the budget is lower than expected, but I always say everything is possible! In this case, we seek the most suitable compromise if your budget is lower than the market price. We help our customers understand which budget will match each region we hire. We provide salary information, taxation, and our fee, so it is easier to calculate your budget. We always try to find the best solution for our clients regarding their budget.
You also mentioned that we hire developers in certain locations. Why do we hire in these specific locations?
Long story short! After COVID kicked in Ukraine, we became more flexible and added more locations to the list of where we can hire specialists.

Kazakhstan is a great location for hiring software developers, and the country has many tech talents, good expertise, and a convenient level of tax. After the war started, we added even more locations, so now we have more than 10 locations like?Ukraine,?Poland,?Romania,?Moldova,?Georgia,?Bulgaria,?Kazakhstan,?Azerbaijan,?Brazil, and?Mexico. We have countries all in different time zones for our client’s convenience.
For example, our clients from the US prefer to work directly with a team, so Mexico is a good location for them. For Australia hiring from Kazakstan also gives productive communication since they have similar time zones. The countries we choose also have a good level of tax which is more affordable than in other countries. Still, it is costly, but you invest in quality people and their work.
Can clients choose a location for hiring?
Yes, with our?outstaffing?service, we provide our clients with a list of countries they can choose from.
As I mentioned before, we always start with the research so the client knows which locations are better with the expertise of technology they need. Some customers wondered about the risks of hiring developers in Ukraine after the war started, and we had some issues with electricity.
That was temporary, and now we have clients who prefer hiring developers only from Ukraine.
Is it possible to organize effective communication if the client and a team are in different time zones? How do we handle it?
This is not an issue for Qubit Labs. As we hire from scratch, we are ready to negotiate with potential candidates about individual working schedules.
We ask clients’ expectations about preferable working hours and then arrange it during the interview with potential candidates. We simultaneously organize at least 4–5 hours between the client and the team.
Do we have a definite client profile we only work with?
We dont have any specific client profile. In our cases, we have a list of companies, from small startups to enterprises.
Some other vendors have a limit as far as clients’ company size is concerned.
We are flexible with any size of the company. We can easily hire just one specialist or a whole team of developers.
This case is especially beneficial for those companies that have yet to try to work with a vendor, so hiring just one specialist helps test whether this type of collaboration suits your company. And if collaboration is successful, the company can hire more people with us.
We also have experience in engaging big teams like 20–30 people. In this case, we want to be realistic and inform our clients of potential deadlines that hiring can take longer. Estimatetdly we can hire 6–8 people per month. At the same time, our hiring productivity significantly depends on clients’ size. Overall, we are working with all industries and all companies sizes.
When is the right time for startups to hire a development team or a vendor like Qubit Labs?
Many startups are coming to us just with MVP or at a pre-MVP stage, or just with an idea of their potential project. In this case, our service will only fit their expectations.
If you are looking for short-term collaboration, it is better to try outsourcing. If you already have an MVP, some foundation of your project, and know exactly how many people you need for budget development — that is the best time to go with outstaffing and start your dedicated team.
Having a dedicated team is also beneficial for startups as far as dealing with investors is concerned.
