Snap, Crackle, Ad: Snapchat Is Rolling Out New Advertising Techniques

Snapchat is shaking things up with Sponsored Snaps, a new ad feature that lets brands drop promotional messages straight into your chat inbox. The once ad-free safe haven is now playing host to paid content as part of Snapchat's grand plan to level up its advertising game.

According to CEO Evan Spiegel, this new approach gives advertisers the perfect chance to grab your attention at every stage of the marketing journey, including raising awareness and driving conversions with in-message call-to-action options.?

TikTok Ban-demic: Is the Platform’s Time Almost Up?

There have been some updates on the TikTok ban saga ??

First announced by ex-president Donald Trump back in 2020, it looks like the buzz around the ban is cooling off. A new survey from the Pew Research Center shows that only 32% of U.S. adults are still backing the ban. Meanwhile, opposition to the ban is on the rise, with 28% now against it (up from 22% in March this year), and uncertainty is growing too—39% of Americans aren’t sure if the platform should get the boot.

But here's the kicker: banning TikTok could have ripple effects for marketers, including those here in New Zealand. If the platform does get banned, we might see a shift in advertising dynamics, such as a potential drop in ad prices as fewer businesses compete for space, or it could drive up costs as brands scramble to find new ways to engage with TikTok’s highly active audience. It’s all up in the air at this stage, but one thing’s for sure—we’ll be watching closely to see how it all plays out! Read more about the TikTok ban dispute here.

Mosh Marketing Success Stories

Tatua Espresso Mousse Campaign

The aim of this campaign was to raise awareness of the newly launched Espresso Mousse aerosol in the South Island market. We focused on highlighting the convenience, versatility, rich flavour, and creamy texture of this delish new product. To really bring the campaign to life, we combined in-house Mosh photography, sleek animations, and engaging recipe videos.

We set up a 6-ad variation Reservation Campaign on Meta, designed to reach as many people as possible. This allowed us to guarantee results before we even went live. We targeted major cities to hit the most populated areas and maximise bang for buck.
