????The average 30 year fixed rate dropped to 6.76% from 6.99% the prior week.?This up to date info is provided by the weekly rate survey from Mortgage News Daily.?Mortgage rates have increased significantly during February-March 2023.?We saw them briefly drop below 6% after the recent Federal Reserve meeting but a strong jobs report, hot inflation data, and ISM report pushed them well over 6%, approaching recent highs.?Inflation is the key driver for interest rates and any data showing a deceleration will be viewed favorably by the mortgage backed security market.
