Mortgage Lenders & Spray Foam
Oliver Griffiths

We are seeing some cases of mortgage lenders refusing to cover properties that have had a spray foam for insulation.
Why is this? As satisfying as it may look - spray foam can cause condensation, dampness and moister to appear in some situations. In any cavity, you need airflow to avoid any potential problems.
A recent government-backed scheme helped people get spray foam installed, only to find that people are having to spend hundreds if not thousands of pounds to remove the substance. Mortgage lenders are refusing to lend against properties that have a higher risk of dampness.
We are now seeing independent law firms approaching people who have used this substance that was backed by the government, to see what can be done to help in removing and holding someone to account for the lack of expertise before these decisions were made..
