Moroccan Chef Najat Kaanache Wins “Chef Pioneer” Award by Elle Magazine

Moroccan chef Najat Kaanache has won the “Chef Pioneer” award by the Spanish magazine ELLE.?

Kaanache presented a comprehensive program dedicated to Moroccan Cuisine on “Canal Cocina” at the 2022 ELLE Gourmet Awards gala, which enabled her to win the award.

The jury committee commented: “There is no one better than Najat Kaanache to win the prize of Chief Pioneer”. They also added that she has perfectly managed to combine Moroccan and Spanish gastronomy.

Born and raised in the Basque Country, with Moroccan ancestry, Kanaache chef career has taken her all over the world training with some of the world’s top kitchens including Alinea, the French Laundry, El Bulli, and Noma.?

Kanaache has been in the spotlight as a celebrity and a television cook. She was also an actress in the early stage of her career. She settled in Fez, to open her signature restaurant Nur, which means light. She describes it as a “maze of pathways where we blur the boundaries between art and gastronomy, between the traditional and modern culinary worlds”.?

Chef Kaanache is now one of the most prestigious ambassadors of Moroccan cuisine. She sees her country as "the mouth of Europe" through its unique flavors of colonial and diverse cultures.?
