Well, sometimes mornings are fun and then ...
I have had magnetic car signs for a lot of years, but this has NEVER happened before! They always just strip right off when I needed them to ... but not this pair!
Yesterday, I spent about an hour getting the driver's side one off. Because I have to parallel park behind my house against a cement wall, I waited until this morning to move my car across the street so I could work on the passenger's side more easily. I thought it would be a quicker job because that side of the car is usually mostly in shadow.
Silly, silly me.
This one is fighting me tooth and nail (Hey, Nick Smethurst! Another fun origin phrase for you?) as you can see.
I now have it whittled down to about six smallish pieces, which I've sprayed with WD-40 ... seems to work if I leave it alone for an hour or so ...
Last big chunk that is resisting my efforts!
Yes, I've contacted the firm I bought them from. Yes, they were great about this. Yes, the quality up until these signs that just don't want to leave me has been excellent. I got a refund of the new signs.
But I have to say, this side's sign just DOES. NOT. WANT. TO. LEAVE!
They were only on for about three years, which is typically when I decide to update them. But I think going forward, I will remove them once a year, clean the car, and then put them back. Can't hurt, right?
So how's YOUR day going, friends?
Oh, the new ones?
Have a great day!

3 年Yikes, what a mess, Susan! I like the idea of making a point to take them off and put them back on every so often, just to keep them from getting too settled in. Might I suggest doing it every 6 months, whenever the clock changes? It's what they suggest for changing batteries on smoke detectors, and seems like it might work in this case as well. Otherwise, I could see it being an easy task to forget.
