Morning People
#Tuesdaythoughts #morningpeople
I wasn’t born a morning person, far from it! I gradually became one out of necessity and as a personal challenge.
For years I lived ‘on the edge’ pushing the human limits on how far late I could set my alarm clock and still catch all the planes I needed to for my job. I was a night owl and enjoyed ‘chillaxing’ in the evening that is not being very efficient with my time.
But gradually I got more and more commitments, more flights to catch, more meetings to attend, more responsibilities.
Inevitably I found myself cutting out on things that I valued, from family time to the gym, working later and later.
Then I began thinking about a different approach: what if I made time at the beginning of the day for all the things I wanted to do (gym, reading, running, preparing for the day ahead etc.) instead that at the end?
What if I woke up earlier and used that time instead of sleeping on it - literally?
It was tough, I’m not gonna lie to you, the bed has a strong pull!
But gradually I got earlier and earlier, I exercised in the morning and felt better all day long, I planned my day more efficiently. I could set up conference calls with Europe earlier (much to the delight of my colleagues!) and by mid-morning I found myself having knocked out of the park a ton of commitments and being able to tackle more things, without the sense of running out of time. I actually felt I had more time.
Nowadays I wake up every morning at 4:30am #430club. I do not need to stay late at the office and my #todolist is always all checked out by early afternoon.
I believe that anyone would be surprised by how differently their days and life could go if they attacked the morning ;-)
Try setting up your alarm 1 hour earlier for a week...
