Morning Habits That Keep My productivity Levels Sky High
“Vartika, how do you manage to do so much stuff in the first half of the day? Do you have some secret syrup you drink in the morning that keeps you going like a Bullet train?” Vin asked.
“I wasn’t really much of a morning person in college, like a regular college going girl would be. As I entered the professional world I came to realization that I was losing a lot by not being one. That was the time I decided to take some steps that could help me make the most of my hours spent at work.
Over the course of time I developed certain habits that have helped me become a more productive person. Would you like to more about those habits?” I replied.

This was the conversation I had with one of my colleagues in the office last week. During the conversation I shared with her a few tips that I use to stay productive, and I’m going to share them with you right here -
A fixed time to wake up
You will never change your life until you change something you do daily. — Anonymous
One of the first things I did, to become more productive, was setting a fixed time to wake up in the morning daily. I’ve been waking up at 5 in the morning for the past 11 years.
Rather than rushing through stuff during the days when I wake up late, or moving at snail speed during the days when I wake up early, I’ve managed to fix a routine for morning. And, it has helped me bring a sense of uniformity in my life.
Leave decisions for later part of the day
From which clothes and which shoes to wear to office to what tasks you need to work upon and which emails to reply, plan all this the night before. Remember, decisions fatigue our mind. If you want to stay fresh for the later half of your day, you need to keep decision making to the minimum in the beginning of the day.
A great way to keep things easy to manage and under your control is to use a project management tool like ProofHub to plan your next day’s task the evening before. So, when you wake up in the morning your mind won’t be clogged with the thoughts of taking so many small as well as big decisions.
Eating the frog early in the morning
Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day. — Mark Twain
I follow this principle religiously. While planning my tasks for tomorrow, I make it a point to keep the most difficult tasks for the first few hours at work. By tackling the most challenging tasks early in the day, I can easily go through the remaining half of the day, without any stress.
And, this is what I advise to all my team members. Plan your work schedule such that the most difficult tasks are covered early, and you can easily go through the remaining day!
A powerful breakfast
Pouring in the right fuel in the engine is a must if you want the machine to run efficiently. Our body works like a machine, hence needs the right fuel if you want to deliver the best at work. Therefore I plan my morning meals quite diligently.
Adding the right mix of nutrients and electrolytes help me maintain activeness throughout the day. This keeps me going strong, during not only the earlier part of the day but the entire stretch. Anyone who is looking to get the best out of his or her abilities during the day must focus on feeding on the right breakfast.
It’s easier said than done
I’m sure many of you would be wondering what’s new in this list. Or, how easy it is — we can easily do this. Before you jump into this conclusion let me ask you this simple question — how many of you think you are getting the best out of the first half of your working day? Forget about the first half, how many of you are actually making the most of your morning hours? Do you think you are spending them in the most productive way possible?
It’s easy to say, but when it comes to inculcating these habits it takes the courage of a soldier and the patience of a sage. However, once you get into this habit the end results are nothing short of miraculous.
If you are letting your mornings drive you insane, there is no one else to blame but yourself. With a little conscious effort you can eventually get into the habit of doing things that can make way for a productive day for the rest of your life. The only question is — are you willing to put that conscious effort?
