The Morning Habit That's Draining Your Brainpower (And How to Reclaim It)

Ever wonder why you feel so brain-dead by the day's end??WARNING: This is going to be a little controversial, but just hear me out and then you can decide if you still love me.

Last year in December, I stopped doing one thing that has dramatically reshaped my day-to-day life and I just had to share it with you.

Believe it or not, this change didn't involve any radical lifestyle overhauls or superhuman efforts.? Yet, the effects on both my personal life and business have been nothing short of transformative.

Think about the first thing you do in the morning. If you're like most people, there’s a good chance it involves a smartphone and a dive into the world of social media. This is not something you've likely heard before, please keep reading.

The time suck is something you're aware of, I'm sure. But here's what you may not know....

Did you know that every scroll, every post demands a decision?

A decision: To like, comment, share, or ignore.

And get this - on average, we make over 1500 of those decisions per day on social media.

1500 decisions! You read that right.

You are blowing your freshest brain power on 1500 trivial decisions that have zero bearing on your life or business. It's insanity!

If you're scrolling through those apps first thing, you're seriously sabotaging your day before it even begins.

Your freshest brainpower is being utterly wasted on someone's brunch pic instead of being channeled into your business, your clients, or your family. It's utter madness!

I was stuck in that brain-draining rut too, until I woke up and made one game-changing rule: no social media until after 12pm. Bam! It upgraded my mornings. Was it easy? Heck no. Worth it? Heck yeah.

I'm not just saving time here, I'm preserving my whole cognitive load for what truly matters most. And guess what? That constant urge to check for updates has practically disappeared. It's magical!

Let's be real - does anyone actually care what Brenda ate for breakfast or if some barista botched a name on a cup? Nope! We've got way bigger goals to hustle for.??

?These days, my mornings are a totally different ballgame. No more frittering away that fresh brain on the social drain until lunch. And miraculously, I've found?more bonus time to pour premium mental energy into priorities that count.

You might be wondering about those DMs and notifications stacking up. But hello? They're not going anywhere! You'll see the same DM's, notifications, and posts later in the day. Waiting means you avoid squandering that primetime morning mind.

Instead of the social quicksand, here's what I do instead:

I dive into stimulating personal growth - I start with leadership books, personal growth books, meditation and prayer, anything to exercise my intellect and feed my soul. It's an energizing, purposeful way to start the day while my brain is a finely-tuned machine.

So here's my challenge: If checking social media after noon (or even just later in the day) works a-ok, why are you cracking those apps open first thing and depleting your sharpest mental reserves on 1500 trivial decisions?

That tiny shift could massively amplify your productivity, income, and inner calm.
