The exceptionally high life expectancy of the Japanese has long captivated global attention, setting a benchmark for health and wellness. According to the World Health Organization, Japan boasts a ‘healthy life expectancy’ (HALE)—the number of years a person lives in full health without requiring nursing care—of an impressive 73.4 years, significantly higher than India’s 58.1 years.
This remarkable difference is driven by a combination of diet, lifestyle, and, most importantly, a proactive approach to preventive healthcare. Inspired by Japan’s healthcare ethos, Fujifilm and Dr. Kutty’s Healthcare (Fujifilm DKH LLP) have partnered to launch Nura—India’s first AI-powered health screening centers dedicated to the early detection and management of cancer, diabetes, and lifestyle diseases.
Bringing Japanese Expertise to India
Nura’s hallmark is its 120-minute comprehensive health screening, as highlighted by its founder and program director, Masaharu Morita. Leveraging Fujifilm’s cutting-edge AI imaging technology, these screenings offer patients clear and actionable insights into their health.
India became Nura’s first market outside Japan in 2021, starting with its Bengaluru center. “India, as the world’s most populous country, has immense need for preventive healthcare,” Morita explained. However, unlike Japan, where annual health checkups are mandated for all employees, Nura had to adapt its model to suit India’s unique healthcare landscape.
Today, Nura operates centers in Gurugram, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and its newly opened center in Calicut, with plans to expand to Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, and other cities by next year.
A Premium Experience with Cutting-Edge Technology
At Nura, the experience is unlike any other. Walk into a Nura center, and you’ll notice the simplicity and efficiency—no long queues or chaos. Within just 120 minutes, visitors leave with a comprehensive health report that rivals even emergency room diagnostics in speed and accuracy.
This streamlined process is supported by highly trained guest relations executives who ensure a seamless experience from registration to screening. Morita emphasizes that Nura isn’t a typical clinic or diagnostic center—it’s a revolution in preventive healthcare.
Key to this revolution is Nura’s AI-enabled CT imaging, capable of detecting even the smallest anomalies that might escape human observation. The combination of AI precision and human touch ensures that visitors leave with a complete understanding of their health status and actionable steps for improvement.

Seamless Digital Integration
Beyond in-person experiences, Nura delivers a fully digital journey. From app-based health reports to AI-driven insights, the focus is on eliminating paperwork and making health data accessible, visual, and engaging.
Nura’s digital reports offer detailed organ images, body composition analysis, and predictive health projections, transforming data into a powerful visual tool for education and action. “Seeing is believing,” Morita says, highlighting how these insights drive greater health engagement and adherence.
Future-Focused Innovations
Currently, Nura focuses on cancer and lifestyle diseases like diabetes and heart conditions. Looking ahead, the company plans to address locomotive diseases affecting the elderly and introduce regenerative medicine technologies.
Global expansion is also on the horizon, with Nura already operating in Mongolia and Vietnam and planning to enter markets like the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines.
A Mission Beyond Business
For Morita San, Nura’s success isn’t just about revenue—it’s about lives saved and fostering a cultural shift toward prioritizing health before illness. “Everyone knows prevention is better than cure, especially after COVID. But knowing isn’t enough; we need action,” Morita says.
Nura’s mission began in India, but its impact is now scaling globally, proving that preventive healthcare is not just a necessity—it’s the future.
