Morgan and Murray's Commentary on the 'Israeli'-Palestine Conflict

Morgan and Murray's Commentary on the 'Israeli'-Palestine Conflict

The Israeli-Palestinian asymmetrical conflict, mischaracterised as a convoluted geopolitical quandary, is in reality a more straightforward case of occupation and conflict. Since 1948, Palestine has been under the occupation of European Zionists, with unwavering support, arms, and a seemingly unrestricted licence to act from the US and Europe. This article aims to challenge the biased narratives presented by commentators like Piers Morgan and Douglas Murray, particularly their portrayal of the Hamas charter contrasted with their deafening silence on provocative Israeli rhetoric and actions.

The Misrepresented Hamas Charter:

Piers Morgan and Douglas Murray have persistently portrayed the Hamas charter as a document brimming with genocidal intent against Israel and Jews worldwide. However, a careful examination of both the original and the updated 2017 charter reveals no such genocidal references. The charter references jihad, a resistance to occupation, a right enshrined in Divine Law and International law. This continuous misrepresentation raises critical questions about their journalistic integrity and the underlying motives in perpetuating this narrative.

Selective Silence on 'Israeli' Statements:

Contrasting sharply with their focus on Hamas, Morgan and Murray have maintained a conspicuous silence on troubling statements from various Israeli officials:

  • 'Israel’s' Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich stated, "There is no such thing as a Palestinian because there is no such thing as the Palestinian people."
  • "My right, my wife's, my children's, to roam the roads of Judea and Samaria are more important than the right of movement of the Arabs," declared Mr Ben Gvir.
  • “We are now rolling out the Gaza Nakba,” announced Dichter, a member of the right-wing Likud party. “Gaza Nakba 2023. That’s how it’ll end.”
  • Dan Gillerman remarked, “I am very puzzled by the constant concern which the world is showing for the Palestinian people... these horrible, inhuman animals who have done the worst atrocities that this century has seen.”
  • 'Israeli' Defense Minister Yoav Gallant described the situation as “fighting human animals and we are acting accordingly.”
  • Ben Dahan expressed, “To me, they (Palestinians) are like animals, they aren’t human.”
  • Ron Prosor, 'Israel’s' Ambassador to Berlin, commented, “This is civilization against barbarity... These people basically act as animals and do not have any respect for children, women.”
  • Former 'Israeli' Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman claimed, “There are no innocent people in the Gaza Strip.”
  • Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote, “This is a struggle between the children of light and the children of darkness.”
  • 'Israeli' President Isaac Herzog stated, “It’s an entire nation out there that is responsible... They could’ve risen up, they could have fought against that evil regime.”
  • An 'Israeli' army spokesman mentioned that “our focus is on (creating) damage, not on precision.” Moshe Feiglin, a former Likud Knesset member, added, “The only solution is to completely destroy Gaza before invading it... like what happened in Dresden and Hiroshima, without nuclear weapons.”
  • In 1983, 'Israeli' Defense Forces Chief of Staff Rafael Eitan compared Palestinians to “drugged cockroaches in a bottle.”
  • “We declare openly that the Arabs have no right to settle on even one centimeter of Eretz Israel...Force is all they do or ever will understand. We shall use the ultimate force until the Palestinians come crawling to us on all fours.”—Rafael Eitan

This selective approach to critique not only reveals a concerning bias but also a dangerous oversight of rhetoric that could be perceived as inciting violence.

The Reality on the Ground:

While Morgan and Murray focus on the alleged genocidal intent in the Hamas charter, the reality on the ground paints a different picture. The 'Israeli' Occupation Forces' (IOF's) military actions, increasingly described as disproportionate, have led to significant Palestinian casualties. The lack of serious commentary on these actions by the dynamic duo raises questions about their commitment to a balanced and fair portrayal of the conflict.

The Responsibility of Media Figures:

The role of media figures like Morgan and Murray extends beyond mere commentary; they have a responsibility to present a balanced and accurate portrayal of events, especially in conflicts as charged as the 'Israeli'-Palestinian one. Their apparent duplicity in addressing the imaginary contents of the Hamas charter while overlooking the very real provocative 'Israeli' statements and actions does not just misinform the public but potentially fuels further conflict. As observers and commentators, the onus is on them to ensure their narratives do not become tools of misinformation and bias, inadvertently perpetuating the cycles of violence and misunderstanding they claim to critique.
