There Are More Viruses Than Just the Coronavirus!

Why do terrible things spread so fast? The coronavirus, mediocrity, anger, and reality television shows that thrive off arguments, and tearing others down. I read recently the ratings of the television show “The View” in the US skyrocket every time the hosts scream and demean each other. I know it can’t feel good when the show ends. 

 Yet the best of humanity seems to be kept off stage and out of public view. Courageous women and men making a difference in their local communities, families facing devastation with hope and gratitude. Employees trying to be exceptional in their work and patient in their interactions with other employees and clients. People seeing and helping others they don’t know. Individuals facing personal demons we never recognize. I’m turning off the terrible and spreading the incredible this week. 

While in Europe over the holidays I stood outside of a church whose outside facade was beautiful, incredible, and inspiring. When I walked inside I was taken aback by the deterioration and darkness. As I walked away I told myself, “I don’t want to be that way as a person, looking good on the outside and rotting away on the inside.”
