As brands scramble to use video in marketing, one thing is for sure. It’s pretty undeniable that video boosts open rates by 19% (or more). It’s even more astonishing that video emails can boost click through rates (CTR) by 200- 300% (according to Forrester). So why wouldn’t you include videos in your email campaigns?
It’s too much work.
Let’s face it. We’re pressed for time and creating videos takes too long. It’s just too much work. You can tell yourself that all you want. But other than a little planning (drafting the idea and even maybe a script) and a little time to actually shoot the video, it really doesn’t take that long. I’ve spent as a little as 15 minutes to half an hour on a video for email purposes. So no, it really is NOT too much work.
It’s too expensive.
Including video in an email or shooting a video is not only too much work, but surely it is much too expensive. You need to hire a videographer, right? Well, you can. Yes, that can be expensive. Luckily, we have this thing called the Internet where we can search for affordable videographers should you opt to go that route. Or you could just do it yourself.
I don’t know how to shoot videos or edit videos.
Yes, this is a legitimate concern. We’re not all blessed with mad tech skills. Let me tell you all a little secret. I’m not either. However I’ve still managed with the help of apps (those do exist and they’re AMAZING!) to create and edit videos for email.
I don’t know which platform to use.
Video email platforms is something a bit more difficult honestly. Your first instinct is go to your email marketing provider and try that. But then you’re disenchanted with the experience because it’s not as intuitive or easy to create. Jack of all trades, master of none in the email world. However, there is no reason to go into a tiz.
