More than 40% of installers don’t know where to go for renewables training
Welcome to the latest Installer LinkedIn newsletter, bringing you the big news from the world of heat, water, air and energy.
We kick off with data from two recent surveys commissioned in the merchant sector relating to the future of heating.
Research commissioned by Energy Efficiency at City Plumbing, and conducted by Censuswide, polled installers about their current knowledge of renewable technologies in the heating market and whether they planned to become certified to install them. The results show there is significant work to be done, with 44% of installers not knowing where to go to get trained and only 27% saying it’s easy to find a course near where they live. Just 18% of installers currently install heat pumps, and only 6% are MCS certified.
A Wolseley survey of more than 1,000 homeowners and tenants, meanwhile, has revealed a strong level of interest in investing in more sustainable forms of heating. 34% of respondents intend to spend their money changing their heating system over holidays or other experiences this year, with almost half believing it is important for their energy source to be environmentally friendly.
