One thing is for sure; our society celebrates immediate gratification.
Getting rich quick is a succulent promise offered by every social media huckster attempting to grab our attention with short cuts and “hacks” aimed at taking the pain out of personal and professional improvement.
Most people prefer avoiding the strain of personal growth by expediting success and finessing around discomfort, lack of patience and discipline.
When success looks easy expectations are unrealistic from the inception and people give up way to soon as they realize the reality of their aspirations.
Popular movements have gained notoriety, all engineered to make people feel good as they avoid personal responsibility.
Building up everyone’s self-esteem has gained traction and validating personal choices has taken precedence over dealing with the truth.
Genetics.? Up bringing. Bad parents.? Poor education.? Poverty.? Illiteracy.? Bad choices.? Poor family planning.? Lack of fiscal responsibility all play a part in a person’s probability of success.
What are we doing to FIX these problems?
Not much.? We prefer short cuts.? We call people names, dream up nefarious explanations and avoid the difficult conversations orchestrated in the spirit of “getting results”.
On a personal level, it’s equally as discouraging.
People give up and make excuses for not investing the time, energy, commitment and sacrifice necessary for success.
There’s something to be said for abandoning a bad idea.? However, most people aren’t doing what’s required for success and there’s nobody to blame but us.
How do we get back on track and stay focused on achieving our dreams?
“Never give up on something that you can’t go a day without thinking about.” Winston Churchill
Here are 7 reasons why we shouldn’t give up too easily: ????????
Romanticized success
Most people romanticize success. They fall in love with the idea of success but have no comprehension about the real struggles necessary to succeed.? Falling in love with the outcome without embracing the process results in failure.? People that spend all their time creating the impression of success by having things that make them look successful, even though their broke, are wasting time.? Mastery requires hard work and dedication.? There’s no way around it.??

Judgement
Many people fear judgement, so they avoid pursuing their dreams.? The thought of being rejected by friends, family and strangers supersedes their desire to succeed.? They give up as the idea of being castigated by peers becomes overwhelming.? We need to get past worrying about what anyone else things.? Most people with strong opinions about what we “shouldn’t do” never had the courage to pursue their dreams, not to mention they have never succeeded on a large scale.????
Fear
Most people need to adjust their relationship with fear and continue to modify that experience to avoid catastrophic thinking and inaction.? At the same time if we keep failing maybe we aren’t paying close attention to the lessons that could be learned.? If we get into the habit of labeling every setback as a failure, we start to identify ourselves as “failures”.? How about learning to be comfortable with the idea you’re constantly learning, and that’s ok.???
“Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.” Dale Carnegie
Challenge
Many entrepreneurs fail to move in a direction because its inconsistent with their “business plan”.? Listen, everybody likes a good plan. However, the fog of war makes great plans difficult to execute because reality demands a different response. If we don’t learn to embrace challenges and learn to maneuver around obstacles, we get married to bad ideas and sink with the ship, even after we notice a gaping hole in the hull.
Discipline
Discipline is the missing ingredient missing from most people’s recipe for success.? Discipline is the drive that gets us up each day with enthusiasm because and confidence.? It provides the awareness that nothing will be easy, and the joy of appreciation that’s what separates winners from losers.? Everybody that takes a shower has a great idea.? The problem, most don’t dry often and make it happen every day!?
Distraction
Distraction is a problem for many people and often the reason people abandon good ideas in favor of “popular” ones. Listening to the crowd as they chase the latest investment trend is seldom wise.? We need a plan that fits our personal circumstance, and the execute the plan flawlessly.? That includes discipline, patience and resisting the temptation to do what everybody else does.? Don’t get distracted by what you “could have done”.? Stay focused on what you’re doing and stay committed.??
Limitations
Self-confidence and believing in yourself is essential for success.? We are often the only one that does believe in our dream, so let’s get used to it.? Mindset is what sets differentiate success from failure and it starts with believing in yourself.?? When our mindset is right, we eviscerate limiting beliefs and develop great habits consistent with success.
“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” Tomas Edison
