Hotel Leaders often do not praise their people nearly as often as they should.?A lack of Praise from Hotel Managers can be perceived as a sign that performance is bad in the Hotel.
Silence from a Hotel Leader can cause anxiety even with a Hotel Manager’s best performers. It can also make Hoteliers feel un-valued.
Providing Effective Praise to your Hotel Teams is far easier than you think. Firstly, regular praise by a Hotel Manager in a Hotel is a great long-term solution for helping people deal with stress.
Praise helps build up resilience and tolerance for when work is difficult, because as Hoteliers get rewarded when they do great work in a Hotel situation they tend to improve standards for their Hotel Manager’s gratitude.?
Hoteliers who receive gratitude for their good work are twice as likely to be more optimistic and feel better about their lives than those who do not receive praise. However, if you don’t praise your Hotel Teams enough,?workers are?more likely to move to another job within the next year.
So, give your Hotel Teams praise regularly, but critically, give Praise in a meaningful way. It matters how you deliver it and what you say. As a Hotel Manager, your opinion matters to your Hotel Team.
As well as focussing on praising your people a lot more than you probably are now, tell your people “exactly” what you liked in their work and what you did not like. Precisely.
We all know the feeling when someone really means their Praise and when they do not, so only focus on this type of genuine praise.
Always specifically acknowledge what you liked and what you did not, your Hotelier will know that you really paid attention, they will also know exactly what to do to be praised again by their Hotel Manager.

So, give praise in a simple and meaningful way. Praise a Hotelier’s strengths during each shift if you can, you can normally use praise to allow members of your Hotel Team to grow and motivate them to take on new challenges in the Hotel.
Pick an area each person in your Hotel Team could improve, or a skill you want them to focus on.?Work with them on it and praise them specifically for making improvements in that Hotel Skill.
By giving specific and frequent praise, members of your Hotel Team will feel less uncertainty and more support from you and stay in your Hotel for longer.
