More People Worth Meeting - The Festival Organizer, The Homeopath, The Hotelier, The Actress and The Businessman on The Coffee at Eleven Show Week 6

We had another busy week on The Coffee at Eleven Show, chatting with more 'People Worth Meeting' in front of a LIVE, growing and international audience (Sweden, Spain and Australia all popped in - the wonders of a virtual cafe)

As always, it's been fascinating! And great fun!

We met The Festival Organizer, The Homeopath, The Hotelier, The Actress and The Businessman.

  • Monday: The Festival Organizer. “Be Kind To Yourself. Give Yourself Permission To Not Have To Do Everything.” David O’Donovan I.NY
  • Tuesday: The Homeopath. The Job From Hell to Her Own Dream Business - Grainne Adams, regales the LIVE #Coffeeat11 audience
  • Wednesday: The Hotelier. “Use COVID Time, don’t waste this once in a century opportunity!” Sean Lally, Hotel Woodstock, Ennis
  • Thursday: The Actress. “Embrace Your Limitations, Then Reach For The Stars.’ Sinead O’Riordan, Founder ORion Productions
  • Friday: The Businessman. “Lead, Follow, Or Get Out Of The Way.” John Webb O’Rourke talks societal contribution on Coffee @ 11

As always, each guest brought a completely different vibe and perspective to the cafe, reflecting not only on their businesses before, during and after COVID, but increasingly as has come to be expected, them reflecting on the unexpected positives appearing in the totality of their lives by being forced to stop.

Towards the end of each chat- before we went to LIVE Q&A from the floor - I asked each of them for the one tip they would offer their nearest and dearest in terms of coping with COVID; below is what each said.

Find out what each guest's No. 1 Tip for 'Thriving through COVID' is in 3 easy steps:

  1. Stick on the kettle, grab a coffee, pull up a comfy chair, gift yourself ten minutes of YOU time
  2. Watch the 'Top Tips' video (highly recommended) , or listen to the Top Tips Podcast (recommended) or read on below...
  3. Then pick your favorite and watch the full interview (Top Tip Podcast and/or Full Interview Video links below each guest's intro)

Top Tips (and short intros) In Their Own Words

  • Monday: The Festival Organizer. “Be Kind To Yourself. Give Yourself Permission To Not Have To Do Everything.” David O’Donovan I.NY

I.NY | Celebrating the relationship between Ireland and New York. One story at a time.

David told us, “I.NY is a cultural and diaspora project, and a cultural and tourism product.”

The Ireland New York story is arguably the most rich and positive international relationship we hold as a country, its emblematic of our diaspora story all over the world, and it’s one that almost everyone has a personal connection to. With a range of partners in Ireland and New York, we explore this story, both historic & modern, and across multiple disciplines. We design and curate cultural events, commissions & initiatives, and digital content around that relationship. This year–round activity culminates in an annual festival in October where we welcome national and international artists & audiences.

Ladies and gentlemen, it was my pleasure chatting with David O’Donovan, Creative Director of I.NY Festival on The Coffee at Eleven Show.

Stick on the kettle, grab a coffee and a notepad, pull up a comfy chair and think along as Yours Truly has #CoffeewithDavid

I promise you will be glad you did…

  • Tuesday: The Homeopath. The Job From Hell to Her Own Dream Business - Grainne Adams, regales the LIVE #Coffeeat11 audience

What made today extra special for me was that Grainne and I hung around together in our teens!

“I treat ‘whatever ails ya!” says Grainne. “Basically, people come to me usually when they are unwell and often when they have exhausted other avenues to find help. I ‘take their case’ which involves getting a picture of how they are out of balance on a mental, emotional and/or physical level. Then I prescribe homeopathic remedies with the aim of bringing them back into balance.”

Originally, Grainne trained as a Montessori teacher and spent 20 years doing this, fourteen in Australia in a wonderful school. She became the principal of the school at the ripe old age of 29 and came back to Ireland in 1998.

As an independent parent, she moved to Carlow, retrained as a homeopath and set up in practice in 2003. Today Grainne has two very busy clinics, one in Carlow and the other in Dublin and she teaches in the Irish School of Homeopathy.

  • Wednesday: The Hotelier. “Use COVID Time, don’t waste this once in a century opportunity!” Sean Lally, Hotel Woodstock, EnnisSean Lally is a legendary figure in hospitality in the Midwest – but it wasn’t always that way…

One of the aspects of this Coffee at Eleven that I was most looking forward to is hearing Sean’s journey, the downs as well as the ups! You see we all only see the finished product, or at least the current product – very few of us know of the struggles, the sacrifices and the joys found along the way.

Originally from a hard-working family business in Co. Galway, we will trace Sean’s journey through college, to the UK, to Cork, Limerick and now to his and Elaine’s very own dream hotel venue, Hotel Woodstock in Ennis.

Things were flying… until COVID!

Has the dream turned into a nightmare?

Listen to the replay to find out…

Oh, and for those of you interested in a bit of ‘shcaa’… wait till you hear how he met Elaine! (We even bring her in on this part so we could hear the truth!)

Just fab!"

  • Thursday: The Actress. “Embrace Your Limitations, Then Reach For The Stars.’ Sinead O’Riordan, Founder ORion Productions

“Embrace Your Limitations, Then Reach For The Stars.’ Fabulously interesting advice from the fabulously interesting Sinead O’Riordan.

Join Yours Truly and my special guest, the multi-talented Sinead O’Riordan, Irish actor, multi award-winning film /web series co-producer, co-founder of a COVID-born Not For Profit and, er… Honours student in Electronic Engineering… on ‘The Coffee at Eleven Show’ REPLAY, recorded LIVE in front of an international audience on Thursday.

I’ve watched Sinead’s journey from the side lines for some years now and she never ceased to amaze me with the amount of stuff she was involved in – and, turns out, I didn’t know the half of it.

Having given up Silicon Valley to pursue an acting career, which led to her co-producing the award winning independent feature film ‘Dead Along The Way’, and the more recent winner of Best International Web Series, ‘Sucking Diesel’, in which she also stars, Sinead suddenly found that COVID halted her and the company she founded, ORion Productions, in their tracks.

True to form, rather than sitting back and bemoaning the situation she co-founded a Not For Profit enterprise, ‘East Coast Mask Makers’ which, ‘does exactly what it says on the tin’, makes cloth face masks and distributes them to the vulnerable during these strangest of days. Along with forty machinists, the small start-up has made and delivered 5,000 masks to date and demand is skyrocketing! #watchthisspace

And of course, there are the post-COVID plans for ORion Productions…

It was such a joy having #CoffeewithSinead on Thursday morning and I cannot recommend more highly that you stick on the kettle, grab a coffee and a notepad, pull up a comfy chair and learn and laugh alongside us in this replay.

“Lead, Follow, Or Get Out Of The Way.” John Webb O’Rourke talks societal contribution on Coffee at 11

We talked Health scares, Legacy, Succession planning, Contribution, Politics, Business, Family, and… Racing Pigeons!

John told the LIVE international audience of the COVID-born Not for Profit: C-19 ESI (Emergency Supplies (Ireland)) in which he is involved.

Of C-19 ESI, he says. “Our goal is simple. We help to save lives and protect the amazing Emergency Services, at home and abroad. Using Ireland as a key global hub we provide a Trusted and Certified Supply Chain for distribution of PPE and Test Kits to Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States, Scandinavia and Africa.”

In his ‘day job’, he heads up his own brainchild of ten years, Zest Healthcare, a promoter, and developer of Primary Healthcare Centres in Ireland.

Before all of that, we’re talking property development, property management, law, finance, oh, and he is setting up the ‘Coolmore Stud’ for Racing Pigeons! (as ya do, like)

Phew!

It was such a joy having #CoffeewithJohn on Friday morning and I cannot recommend more highly that you stick on the kettle, grab a coffee and a notepad, pull up a comfy chair and listen, learn and laugh alongside the LIVE audience in this lovely replay.
