More ORIGINALS, please ????
Hello, r3thinkers ??
I'm excited to be back with yet another addition of r3think.
This newsletter is where I share my thoughts to r3activate tomorrow's ideas, stimulate some nerve cells, and spark your creativity along the way.
Having two high energy kids ?????????? back in online school mode forced me to r3adjust my new working habits once again while finding old ways to lower our pixel intake @ home ?? From Viking evenings to Nerf fights in the basement, we always try to add some fun around here. Yet, this time I went back to the basics of building creative things, so I took out a huge box filled with a mix of LEGOS, invited them to spark their creativity, and started creating some pretty cool things. Seeing my kids enjoy building legos brought me to this week's thoughts and made me appreciate the little things that make this life so GREAT! So, without further ado, let's dive into this week's thoughts.
1. What are you building for the future?
In my last edition, I shared a thought on wild dreams but building the future requires a massive dose of action. The question is, where do you shift all those powers when you haven't properly designed the future ??
Many experts love to talk about building the foundation first and adding pillars later (even I fell for this one a couple of times). But what happened to design or r3designing first? How can we build a foundation when the plan is unclear? Building the most prominent building in town requires designing first, calculating structures, measuring, planning, finding the right talent, and building later. We tend to spend so much time constructing that we forget about the architecture. The future needs a blend of designs where old meets new and fuse them into one fantastic piece of art that inspires people to build while knowing the floors are infinite.
??Action Tip?? Get the drawing boards out, invite the team, and start sketching the future.
2. Focus on the DECADE!
HumanKIND loves to set new years resolutions, and with a crazy year like this, many (not all) gave up on them, saying the year is nearly over even with a new season just around the corner. What if instead, we focus on the next decade and all the great things we can build together? What if we set goals so high that push us to learn new skills, unlearn old habits, optimize processes, explore different perspectives, and hire new talent that brings unique things to the table?
??Action Tip?? Visualize the Destination & Map the journey into chapters.
MORE ORIGINALS PLEASE ????
These days it seems like we're living in the era of copy & paste ?? We're seeing it all the time from Uber to Lyft, Netflix to Prime,...
Honestly, it's become this wild rollercoaster that's spinning out of control, and the world is in desperate need of originals that don't care about the vanity metrics that aim for likes, engagement, and comments on social media. Hell, my newsletter is getting very LOW views on Linkedin, but I'm writing this for my kids when they turn 21, so they can have a cool collection of thoughts & ideas when I'm not around to tell them. (Hey Luca & Emma,.. Love ya ??)
So, does that mean newsletters are original? Of course, not! Thousands of people post them worldwide, but only a few dare to put themselves out there, sharing their raw version without the vanity filters.
Being your true self is what ORIGINAL is all about, yet we often mold into something society wants us to be while overlooking the amazing skills and talents we were gifted. Sadly, the same is happening to companies around the world competing on price, quality, consistency, and volume.
But what if we stop offering MORE? What if we stop offering cheaper and start focusing on what makes the people behind the companies UNIQUE and offer something DIFFERENT that stands out? Who knows, maybe then we can all go swimming in the deep BLUE seas ??
??Action Tip?? Replace COPY for DISCOVERY, and paste your original version back together! Don't r3invent yourself but r3discover yourself by r3fueling your self-awareness. I guarantee you'll save years in the process along with a good dose of happiness.
1. The more we give, the better we live!
2. What you want and what you need are 2 different things.
3. Replace I have to with "I WANT TO".
1. What are you building ??
2. Stop asking why and start asking HOW, . . ? If you don't know the why by now, you might expire soon ??
3. How can you become more ORIGINAL ??
Once again, Thank you for reading this newsletter! I appreciate your interest & celebrate your curiosity as the world needs more people like you!
r3thinking and r3building are two different things that require very different skills. Yet, along the way, I've realized that one simple question fuels all actions????
?? HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT ??? ??
With passion,
Bart
