Lufthansa Reactivates Final Two Airbus A380 Aircraft
Lufthansa has decided to reactivate its final two Airbus A380s, D-AIMA and D-AIMB, which are currently stationed in Teruel, Spain, for integration into the fleet between 2024 and 2025. This move comes after the German airline successfully brought back three other A380s with registrations D-AIMK, D-AIMM, and D-AIML, while a fourth A380, D-AIMN, is undergoing maintenance in Manila and is expected to rejoin the fleet by end of October 2023. All eight reactivated A380 aircraft will be stationed in Munich, Germany, reversing earlier considerations for potential deployment in Frankfurt: https://www.aerotelegraph.com/lufthansa-bringt-auch-siebten-und-achten-airbus-a380-zurueck
Nordwind A321 Hard Landing: MAK Releases Final Report
On January 10, 2020, a Nordwind Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration VQ-BRS, experienced a hard landing at Antalya Airport, Turkey, during a positioning flight from Moscow, resulting in significant structural damage. The Interstate Aviation Committee (MAK) recently released its final report, attributing the accident to erroneous actions by the pilot in command during the "shallow flare" phase of landing, which led to a hard touch down at +2.65G vertical acceleration. The aircraft, carrying seven crew and no passengers, encountered multiple system failures post-incident, including main hydraulic systems and avionics smoke, but there were no injuries; both the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) were recovered in good condition, though the CVR did not contain data from the accident flight, AvHerald reports: https://avherald.com/h?article=4d1c737e&opt=0
