I've been writing and speaking at length over the HUUUUUGE changes on Facebook this month.
I've even been contacting previous clients to let them know that things are changing 'bigly.'
All strategies that worked in 2017 and before, are about to be totally disrupted.
Yet before we have time to draw breath on the last change, along comes another MAHOOSIVE one ...
This time it's about weeding out the fake news from the real news.
Fake News v Real News 2018
Facebook’s user base is formidable. With over 2bn worldwide monthly active users, Facebook is a critical tool for publishers and businesses that seek to grow their audience / prospects / opportunities / traffic / profits.
Firstly, there will be less news and business information on your feed. That's because Facebook wants you to be having "more meaningful social interactions" on your newsfeed, rather than "passive consumption."
What that means is that you will be pro-actively asked whether "you know and trust this source."
It also means that 'views' will have less impact (as you scroll through the newsfeed) than when people actually pause to watch / read / imbibe even for a few seconds.
Thoughts on the Latest Facebook 2018 Evolution?
Hopefully it won't squeeze out the smaller publications / trending news / breaking news / local news / citizen journalism / activism.
