More evidence we need an ERP revolution
My hands couldn't stay away from the keyboard when I read this article: https://www.startribune.com/new-erp-programs-can-cause-headaches-for-companies-ask-patterson/476192063/ - I found it really interesting that investors are actively expecting lower earnings while companies go through an ERP implementation. I had never seen that written anywhere before and it provides more evidence there's a need for a revolution in the ERP space.
I don't have any first hand knowledge of what's going on at Patterson Dental - all I know is they selected SAP over Microsoft Dynamics back in late 2013 - https://www.pattersoncompanies.com/Documents/Patterson_Companies_ERP_Provider_Final2.pdf but it's certainly not the first time I've heard of significant problems with such an implementation.
I laid out several ideas on how we can start to revolutionize the industry - https://stoneridgesoftware.com/stoneridge-sets-10-year-goal-of-revolutionzing-erp-industry/. I'd certainly be interested in gathering more thoughts on how we can change the current ERP world.

7 年I would suggest the issues are related more to the implementation process than the actual software solution they are attempting to install. Almost any company could run their business on any of the Tier 1 solutions; however many companies can't/won't make the process changes, commit the resources or have the expertise (internally or contracted) to pull it off.
