More evidence for the co-benefits of climate action

A new systematic review from The New Climate Economy, The Economic and Social Benefits of Low-Carbon Cities: A Systematic Review of the Evidence, concludes that low-carbon measures can help to achieve a range of development priorities, such as job creation, improved public health, social inclusion, and improved accessibility.

While the available evidence is far from complete, it suggests that the wider economic, social equity and environmental benefits of low-carbon measures may be much more valuable than the financial returns associated with reductions in greenhouse gases. Highlighting these co-benefits could provide additional incentive for policy makers to support a green economy.
