To be more in control of your time do 6 things to feel accomplished.

Young people are addicted to social media and their parents are probably sending “mixed messages”.
The dangers of incessant social media consumption are obvious.
When these tools are used to orchestrate social comparisons or kill time, we get pulled into innocuous activity that is counterproductive.
Recent research shows people between the ages of 16 and 24 are especially susceptible.
Facebook has over 2 billion users and Twitter is approaching 350 million daily users.
The average person is spending between 2 and 5 hours a day using social apps, and young people are exceeding those numbers in some cases.
By the time we check e mail, eat, work, have meetings, and entertain interruptions, our day can disappear fast.
At Anatomy of Success, I teach people to own their time, not manage it.
Financial success means nothing is we don’t have time for what matters most.?Mental and physical health, along with satisfying relationships are top priority.
So, how can we take ownership of our time?
“You will never find time for anything. If you want time, you must make it”. Charles Buxto
Here are 6 ways to gain control over your day:
Allocate
Each day we have a limited amount of time.?By deciding what’s most important, we make those things top priority.?We allocate time for what matters most and create time in our schedule for items that require our attention.?We focus on important work by remaining undistracted and taking frequent mental breaks.?Any left-over time can be utilized at our discretion.? I use social media sparingly and my time on these platforms is focused and “productive”.??
Prioritize
Get things done.?Many of us put unpleasant things off until they become urgent.?I prefer to scratch things off my list before they accumulate into something stressful.?By choosing what to ignore I stay focused on things that “require” my attention.?By reducing my obligations, I ensure everything that is essential gets finished.?Prioritizing our time is essential for taking ownership of our day.??
“The more you know yourself, the more you understand life, the more you value your time”. Maxime Lagacé
Refuse
Many of us say yes to things we later regret.?By trying to be nice we agree to accommodate people that demand our time or accept extra work that’s inconsistent with our focus.?I have people reach out on LinkedIn everyday asking for 15 minutes of my time.?When people get wrapped up in our “network frenzy” culture believing every connection is "essential", we waste time fraternizing with people that don’t align with our purpose.?Saying no to almost everything helps us create valuable space in our daily schedule.
Routine
Amazing habits are essential for success, and so are routines!?Learn to fall in love with routines and you will find time for the most important things that help us operate at maximum efficiency.?In addition, we won’t have regret because you neglect things that don't deserve our attention.?Family and health come first!?????
Fewer meetings
At Weatherology I meet with key leaders periodically throughout the year.?Leaders need to meet less and offer greater latitude to their teams to operate without constant oversight.?When we define our objectives clearly and give people room to operate without impunity, we free up exorbitant amounts of time.?Meetings need to stay focused and people need to come prepared.?Most people hate meetings and most companies meet way too often.?They are a tremendous time suck and often unnecessary.??????
Prospect better
I am amazed at how many self-proclaimed sales professionals waste time pursuing dead end opportunities.?We need to develop astute skills that help us identify our best prospects, stay focused and be patient.?It took me 10 years to close a major deal because I knew they were a perfect fit for my company.?Learn to identify the top prospects and avoid wasting time. I get "canned" messages from fitness coaches asking if I want to lose 25 pounds. I test in the top 1% for people my age on strength, endurance and metabolic health, and have 6 pack abs year round. When it's obvious you have no clue about the audience you're addressing, you lose all credibility.
“A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life”. Charles Darwin
Sum it up.

Refuse is the one thing many of us fail to do because we want to appease anyone and everyone. But refusing allows us to be more empowered, and that saying no isn't a bad thing. Thank you for the great article Steve Wohlenhaus.
