More Companies Open to Adopting IOT

According to the survey conducted by Zebra Technologies Corporation, many companies are more open to adopting IoT and investing in it as well. Out of the 918 IT decision makers that the company was able to interview for their second yearly Intelligent Enterprise Index, 86% expect their spending on IoT will increase significantly in the one to two years. Half of the percentage anticipate that their spending will rise to 20%. Based on the survey, there is an average of 4% annual spending. Because employees are becoming more open to brand new technologies, the resistance of various companies to IoT advancements dropped from 75% (2017) to 64% (present year).

Nokia and Dell Merging with Smart Barges

Nokia and Dell EMC will merge in a smart project that aims to help the Delft decrease its truck congestion problem through hydrogen-powered, semi-autonomous barges in its waterways. The said barges can deliver goods usually transported by trucks in through the waterways, known to be underused. A high-tech barge will be controlled and connected through a mobility cloud using the EMC Digital City Accelerator Platform (Dell) and IMPACT IoT platform (Nokia). These are accompanied by Ampelmann’s hydraulic gangway technology for on-shore unloading and loading. Tests will continue in 2019 and will be completely functional by the year’s end.

Bosch and the IOTA Partnership

Bosch XDK is extending. Bosch’s IoT application and programmable sensor can also serve as IOTA’s sensor solution. Bosch XDK is capable of gathering real-time information and then sell it through the IOTA data market. Based on the company’s blog, this type of marketplace provides the choice to purchase or sell masked authenticated messaging (MAM) encrypted data. The venture arm of Bosch announced that the company would be investing in IOTA.

Smart Dust

This is the newest buzz phrase, referring to minute sensors the size of a stack of about three quarters. It has wireless communication and onboard computing, able to harness energy from various sources such as heat.

Siemens Partners with Aruba

Siemens and Aruba will merge on incorporating Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s wireless and wired networking products and other software. According to Keerti Melkote, Aruba’s co-founder and president, Aruba and Siemens had focused on the IT/OT separation through the integration of technology. Malkote added that the two companies have backed their efforts by approved endorsement designs. The solutions are useful in various business applications, supported by the support teams of the two companies
