No More Brock Turners -- How You Can Help.

The recent Stanford rape case, in which Brock Turner (a star swimmer who sexually assaulted an unconscious woman and yet will serve a jail term of only three months) highlights the sad reality that "rape culture" remains ingrained in the American psyche. In this culture, the victim has no voice. But, technology gives us the chance to transform this unconscionable state of affairs by empowering victims with a new voice.
A new app for victims -- the I've-Been-Violated? App -- is ISCE.edu's tool to help victims ensure their side of the story gets accurately told It is the only App to give them a voice and a way to be heard.
The I've-Been-Violated? App is free and available for download on the Apple App Store. (The Android version will be available for free download on Google Play by August).
I am writing you today with two requests:
1) Please help spread word about the app. All victims deserve to have their story heard-- each in their way. This step can be essential on their journey from victim to survivor. Only the I've-Been-Violated? App can ensure that their story will be heard. Please see https://youtu.be/MLHImxvCHHY to learn more.
2) Providing the App as a free public service costs money and we need your help. Every $10 contributed will allow us to provide the App to 5 more users. We presently have a backlog of nearly 100,000 users whom we can only support for a few more months without additional funding. Please visit https://victimsstoriesmatter.org to join our fundraising campaign.
Every sexual assault is one too many. Until we can keep perpetrators from committing assaults, we need to ensure that victims have every tool and resources they need. We all have a role to play to ensure that it is the victim’s stories that are heard. Together, we can help victims begin to recover their dignity and personal integrity.
Would love to chat with you about this -- or hear more from you about how we can get the word out. I am at [email protected] or 617-710-9565
